Summary: Today we seem to demand: free, cheap, easy and instant? Some times God uses DIVINE DELAYS as test and part of the growth process. Are we 4 days too late?

MICROWAVE SOCIETY: INSTANT, NOW --- VS --- WAIT

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

We have all heard the phrase: HASTE MAKES WASTE.

SELAH: the Hebrew word Selah true meaning is doubtful. Some say: silence, pause, others say: end, a louder strain

Like for music to play?

Selah is a Hebrew term, its meaning could be a Divine pause. Wait, rest, think about, ponder…

Somme think selah was a SIGNAL FOR WORSHIPPERS TO FALL PROSTRATE ON THE GROUND, or perhaps it was a term for people to call out in deep worship.

EXAMPLES:

Psalm 3:2 Many there be which say of my soul, There is no help for him in God. Selah.

Psalm 3:4 I cried unto the LORD with my voice, and he heard me out of his holy hill. Selah.

Psalm 3:8 Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.

Psalm 32:7 Thou art my hiding place; thou shalt preserve me from trouble; thou shalt compass me about with songs of deliverance. Selah.

Selah is found 74 times in the Bible. It is used often in the book of Psalms and the book of Hab. 3:9, 13.

Selah has something to do with a DIVINE PAUSE OR WAITING…

LIFE HAS A LOT OF WAIT…

Psalm 27:14 Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

INSTANT: a short period of time, to come about quickly, to happen without delay, easy, rapid, with ease,

Pre-cooked, pre-mixed for easy final preparation, appearing in a ready to use form,

DELAY: something happens later than expected, the time you must wait, something happens later, longer time frame than expected, to take longer, postpone, hinder, slow,

WAIT: to stay in place until expected event happens, to remain in a state of expectation or hope, to remain ready, to hold back, to attend as a servant, hidden or concealed, AN ATTITUDE OF WATCHFULNESS AND EXPECTANCY,

Psalm 37:7 Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for him: fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.

Psalm 37:9 For evildoers shall be cut off: but those that wait upon the LORD, they shall inherit the earth.

Psalm 37:34 Wait on the LORD, and keep his way, and he shall exalt thee to inherit the land: when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.

GOD’S PLAN FOR US CARRIES A LOT OF WAIT. GOD’S PLAN OFTEN TIMES INCLUDES THE WAITING GAME…

There can be many reasons that God has us to wait.

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

WHY IS THE PREACHER LATE? FOR SOME REASON GOD DELAYED THE PREACHER’S ARRIVAL 7 DAYS? WHY? WE MAY NOT UNDERSTAND BUT THERE ARE DIVINE REASONS BUT GOD USES TIME TO ACCOMPLISH HIS PLAN. DO WE UNDERSTAND DIVINE DELAYS CAN BE A TEST TO REVEAL OUR REAL NATURE?

1 Samuel 13:8 And he tarried seven days, according to the set time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal; and the people were scattered from him.

GOD’S CALL MAY INVOLVE A WOE, BEFORE THE GO? WE PLAY THE WAITING GAME TO REVEAL OUR HEARTS.

GOD MAY CALL US TO WAIT AS A SEASON OF TESTING…

Saul refused to wait on the man of God. Saul took the authority that was not his to show how he need not WAIT?

1 Samuel 13:10 And it came to pass, that as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt offering, behold, Samuel came; and Saul went out to meet him, that he might salute him. 11 And Samuel said, What hast thou done? And Saul said, Because I saw that the people were scattered from me, and that thou camest not within the days appointed, and that the Philistines gathered themselves together at Michmash; 12 Therefore said I, The Philistines will come down now upon me to Gilgal, and I have not made supplication unto the LORD: I forced myself therefore, and offered a burnt offering. 13 And Samuel said to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandment of the LORD thy God, which he commanded thee: for now would the LORD have established thy kingdom upon Israel for ever. 14 But now thy kingdom shall not continue: the LORD hath sought him a man after his own heart, and the LORD hath commanded him to be captain over his people, because thou hast not kept that which the LORD commanded thee.

AFTER SAUL’S DEMAND OF INSTANT CHURCH AND BYPASSING GOD’S INSTRUCTIONS, SAUL REFUSED TO ACCEPT THE WRONG HE HAD COMMITED Saul was so good at blaming others for his behavior.
