Summary: When God reveals His name, he gives the power and authority that comes with that name. Moses was telling to God that - knowing God as God of their forefathers is not sufficient to deliver them out of Egypt.

Moreover He said, “I am the God of your father—the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.” Exodus 3:6

Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” Exodus 3:13

God has already revealed his name: He is the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. But Moses still asks God’s name. Why?

Knowing God's name means knowing and experiencing God and His power in that name of God. When God said "God of Abraham," means knowing and experiencing God and his power in the same way that Abraham did. When God reveals His name, he gives the power and authority that comes with that name. Moses was telling to God that - knowing God as God of their forefathers is not sufficient to deliver them out of Egypt. The way our forefathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob knew and experienced God and His power is not sufficient to bring them out of Egypt.

Moses may have sensed that in order to bring the Israelites out of Egypt, Israelites needed a greater revelation of God and His power. He wanted to know God as Yahweh God, that is, God in all of His power and authority. "I AM WHO I AM" is a complete revelation of God, supported by all of God's power and authority. God revealed his name as "Yahweh," which means he revealed the entire nature of Yahweh God and the true power that comes with it to Moses. The intensity with which Moses experienced God was very high, and experiencing such greatness of God while still be living itself is a miracle.

When Moses asked God's name, he might have been asking for more of God's power to deliver them out of Egypt. Moses understood the way our forefathers knew about God and experienced God is not sufficient to deliver them out of Egypt. Moses was indirectly asking God for more power and authority, when He asked God’s name. Moses recognised that only God, in all of his strength, could bring them out of Egypt. So he asked God for His name. Which all names of God do you know by experiencing His power. Do you know God as Jehovah Jireh or Jehovah Rapha, and have you experienced His power in your own lives? In your earthly trip, you must experience at least once - all of God's names and the associated power.

Moses was well-prepared in the wilderness. He knew that knowing God's name carries power and authority. When God said, "I am who I am," He revealed His complete power and authority associated with that name to Moses.

Moses knew he lacked the ability and power to carry out God's plans in the wilderness. The wilderness experience exposes all of our shortcomings in order to fulfil God's plans. God reveals a person about Himself in the wilderness. Moses understood he lacked God's power and speech to be involved in God's plan. Wilderness reveals your true self to you. Wilderness prepares you to clearly hear God and obey God. Wilderness sharpens your voice by removing your voice itself. A person trained in God's wilderness can survive any worldly season. He becomes dependent on God's seasons, plans, and, most importantly, on God’s will. God’s vessels are sharpened in the wilderness.

Maybe God told Moses, "If the way the forefathers knew and experienced about my great power is not sufficient, by revealing my name as, I am who I am, I am giving the true vastness of my Glory and power to you”. In this generation, what we and our forefathers know and experienced about Jesus is not sufficient to survive the end times. To survive the end times, we need a deeper revelation of Jesus and His nature, as well as experience His great power.

God showed His complete glory and power to Moses by revealing His name. By which name does God associate with you? Pay attention when God speaks and understand by which name he associates with you. The name with which God associates with you, in that name you will receive the power and blessings. So please pay attention when God speaks to you.
