To encourage believers to emulate Noah's complete obedience to God, even in the face of worldly opposition.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today, we're diving into the deep waters of Genesis 6:22, where we witness Noah's faithful obedience, God's unfailing guidance, and the challenge of living in an unbelieving world.

Opening Scripture Reading – The Scripture reads, "Noah did everything just as God commanded him."

Now, that's a sentence that packs a punch, isn't it? Everything. Not some things, not most things, but everything. Noah was living in a time when people had forgotten about God, yet he stood firm, listened, and obeyed. That's a lesson we can't hear enough in our world today.

Opening Prayer – Let's open our hearts in prayer. Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the example of Noah, a man who obeyed your every command. May we, like him, find strength and courage to do what's right, even when it's not popular. Guide us in our walk with you, Lord, and help us to shine your light in this unbelieving world. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Noah's Faithful Obedience

Noah's faithful obedience is a shining example for all believers. His story is one of unwavering faith and steadfast obedience to God's commands, even in the face of ridicule, doubt, and immense challenge. The Bible tells us that Noah did everything just as God commanded him. This wasn't a half-hearted attempt at obedience or a selective adherence to God's instructions. It was complete, total, and without reservation.

In a world that had turned its back on God, Noah stood out as a beacon of faith and obedience. He was living in a society that was morally corrupt and spiritually bankrupt. Yet, in the midst of this spiritual desert, Noah was an oasis of faith. He didn't allow the disbelief and wickedness around him to sway his commitment to God. Instead, he held firm, listened to God's instructions, and obeyed them to the letter.

This kind of obedience requires a deep and abiding faith, a trust in God's wisdom and goodness, even when His commands don't make sense to us. Noah was asked to build an ark, a massive ship, at a time when there was no sign of a flood. To the rest of the world, this must have seemed like a foolish endeavor. Yet, Noah didn't question God's command. He didn't try to negotiate or look for a more convenient way to obey. He simply did as he was told.

Application – This is a powerful lesson for us today. In a world that often encourages us to do what's easy, convenient, or popular, Noah's obedience challenges us to do what's right, even when it's difficult. It reminds us that true obedience is not about convenience, but about commitment. It's about trusting God's wisdom and goodness, even when His commands don't align with our own desires or the expectations of the world around us.

Noah's obedience also demonstrates the power of a single faithful life. His obedience didn't just impact his own life, but also the lives of his family and the entire human race. By obeying God's command to build the ark, Noah became a vessel of God's salvation. His obedience led to the preservation of human life on earth. This reminds us that our obedience to God can have far-reaching impacts. It can touch the lives of those around us and even change the course of history.

Moreover, Noah's obedience in building the ark was one that took 120 years to complete. This teaches us that obedience to God is not just about individual acts, but about a consistent pattern of faithful living. It's about making a daily commitment to listen to God's voice and follow His guidance, even when the path is long and challenging.

Personal Illustration – In the midst of our discussion on Noah's faithful obedience, I am reminded of a time when he had to make a difficult choice to obey God, even when it was not popular or convenient.
