Message Point: God will use HIS scales to see if we measure up.
Focus Passage: Daniel 5:1-31
Supplemental Passage: for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, (Romans 3:23)
Introduction:
I. The Folly of Man
a. The king “after tasting the wine” made decisions that he might not have made sober.
b. Arrogance of using sacred objects for “show”
II. The Finger of God
a. God judged the king and found him woefully inadequate
III. The Fright of Understanding
a. Daniel told the king what he wanted to know.
b. The king had to pay up that night.
c. God’s word came true.
Invitation: God will measure all of us. It is called judgement. He had already declared that we come up short of what He expects. But there is good news. Jesus died in our place so that we might live forever, if we only believe.
