What is a disciple?

A disciple is a follower or a student of a teacher. The bible speaks about Jesus having many disciples but only refers to the twelve by name and these men are later referred to as apostles.

What does a disciple do?

As a disciple you would be very close to Jesus. In fact, so close you would actually live with him. You would travel with him. You would pray with him. As written in 1 Corinthians 11:1 copy my example, in the same way that I copy Christ’s example. Also as stated in acts 2:38 peter said to them, each of you must stop doing wrong things. You must change how you live. If you believe in Jesus Christ, then we will baptize you. God will forgive you for the wrong things that you have done. Then you will receive the holy spirit, who is god’s gift to you.

How do you become a disciple?

According to john 8:31 it takes believing and obeying to become a disciple of Jesus. We are not called to be a disciple like the twelve were instead we only need to believe in Jesus and follow his direction and this is enough assurance that we were called. However, being called to follow Christ is great but there is more to it we have actions that follow the calling. We must repent of our ways. And we must obey his word (the bible). We must put Jesus first in our lives and then we can be his disciple.
