Old And New Covenant

Summary: To show that we live in the time of free grace and we are blessed with grace, forgiveness and blessings though we don't deserve them, it's undeserved favor for all believers of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
I. EXORDIUM:
Are you living under Grace?
Yes. 2 Corinthians 12:9
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
II. AUDIENCE PROFILE:
Believers
III. OBJECTIVES:
To show that we live in the time of free grace and we are blessed with grace, forgiveness and blessings though we don't deserve them, it's undeserved favor for all believers of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
IV. TEXT:
He told them a proverb also: No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old garment; if he does, he will both tear the new one, and the patch from the new [one] will not match the old [garment].
V. THESIS:
Praise, worship and thank You very much for new methodologies You've given to us in this time of free grace though we don't deserve Your Grace, we partake and enjoy it for the sake of the LORD JESUS CHRIST, You have made us ambassadors of the LORD JESUS CHRIST.
So we are Christ’s ambassadors, God making His appeal as it were through us. We [as Christ’s personal representatives] beg you for His sake to lay hold of the divine favor [now offered you] and be reconciled to God.
VI. TITLE:
Old and new covenant
VII. EXPLICATION:
A. Author: Dr. Luke, The Beloved Physician (close friend and traveling companion of Paul)
B. Audience: Theophilus (Greek means friend of GOD, a Christian)
C. Purpose: To give a connected and orderly narrative of the life of CHRIST as seen by eyewitnesses
VIII. MAIN BODY:
A. New methodologies on New testament
"He told them a proverb also: No one puts a patch from a new garment on an old garment;"
And no one puts a piece of cloth that has not been shrunk on an old garment, for such a patch tears away from the garment and a worse rent (tear) is made.
Neither is new wine put in old wineskins; for if it is, the skins burst and are torn in pieces, and the wine is spilled and the skins are ruined. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.
No one sews a patch of unshrunken (new) goods on an old garment; if he does, the patch tears away from it, the new from the old, and the rent (tear) becomes bigger and worse [than it was before].
And no one puts new wine into old wineskins; if he does, the wine will burst the skins, and the wine is lost and the bottles destroyed; but new wine is to be put in new (fresh) wineskins.
New methodologies of grace are being placed and applied in this time of Grace for us.
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Whenever you are weak, in the New testament still you are strong in the Grace of the LORD.
When you are weak in the old testament you are not allowed to enter the tabernacle.
For no man who has a blemish shall approach [God’s altar to serve as priest], a man blind or lame, or he who has a disfigured face or a limb too long,
Or who has a fractured foot or hand,
Or is a hunchback, or a dwarf, or has a defect in his eye, or has scurvy or itch, or scabs or skin trouble, or has damaged testicles.
No man of the offspring of Aaron the priest who has a blemish and is disfigured or deformed shall come near [the altar] to offer the offerings of the Lord made by fire. He has a blemish; he shall not come near to offer the bread of his God.
Good news if you believe in the LORD JESUS though you have body blemishes you are a royal priesthood.
But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a dedicated nation, [God’s] own purchased, special people, that you may set forth the wonderful deeds and display the virtues and perfections of Him Who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.
