Summary: Should we look at our relationship with God as a way to avoid life’s miseries, or as a way to get to know Him and find strength to endure the curves life sends our way?

avoid life’s miseries, or as a way to get to know Him and find strength to endure the curves life sends our way?

IV. God’s Dealing Are Unpredictable!

1. In one instance, God delivered the Israelites w/out suffering

2. In the second, people died of famine/cannibalism, the suffering was intense....

3. We can never think we have God under control....or figured out....

(1) we all want to feel comfortable and secure....prosperity/health

(2) but we can never manipulate God to eat out of our hands!

(3) Hebrews 11:32-38---by faith, people were delivered; by faith,

people suffered....

4. Prayers: can be powerful, at time miraculous....at other times,

nothing! Sometimes God opens one door after another like the

automatic doors of a supermark...other times, it’s like trying to break

into a vault...

5. What we can learn...

(1) God can do (and sometimes does) the impossible

(2) It is consistent w/godliness to suffer and be walled up in Samaria

(3) What happens for you may not for another, and vice-versa!

(4) What happens for you today may not tomorrow/vice-versa!

(5) Although life and circumstances and God’s dealings are unpredictable, God’s character and promises remain the same...

6. God cannot be put in a Box--isn’t that wonderful! He is bigger,

greater, more complicated than we can understand.....

7. So don’t be so uptight, blaming yourself for every trial or wondering why God isn’t doing for you what He’s done for others....He may do more for you....it’s an adventure...

8. What matters is the big picture--a life organized by God Himself!

Talk about it...

So, what did you think?

Thank you.
