PEOPLE LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT MY BEST FRIEND

PROVERBS 18:24

The RSV reads, “There are friends who pretend to be friends, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.” This presents a contrast between fair-weather friends and those who are loyal through thick and thin. Proverbs 18:24

If you are like many people who are smart, you don’t have many friends. I have found out that the realer you are the fewer friends you will have. I have found that people who tell you to keep it real with them really don't. If you hang around me long enough you will find out that I don't have a filter. I think differently than others and I'm not bothered by peoples opinions and neither should you. Besides a lot of us would rather spend time alone because we don't have time for fake people so you distance yourself from people who aren’t worth your time. Because of who I am I have never seen so many people who try so hard to make me think that they are the next wonder so they call me, e mail me, request me on Facebook to try and connect with me thinking that I can do something for them that will catapult them into a position of notoriety yet when you go to there page and check them you start seeing things on their social media platform that shows them backstabbing, being unloyal to their Leaders and just out right being disrespectful. It just turns me off because I'm far more mature. I see that there is more to life than a title or position. If your like me you just don't have time for no drama. The saying use to be in the streets when I was coming up was ...."YOU CAN SAVE THAT DRAMA FOR YOUR MAMA" aint no body got time for that. How many of you in here today know your worth?

While some people thrive off of how many likes they get on social media I don’t need to wake up to 100 Tik Tok likes or 100 Instagram likes or 200 Facebook likes to make me smile every day. Because everybody that likes stuff on your page aint really your friend. Keep living long enough and you will find lurkers a lurker is someone who goes to your page everyday to read your messages on an Internet discussion forum or social media platform but does not contribute to the positive things that you are doing a lot of times they are a part of that group of people that are laying hidden as if in ambush to assassinate you and your character because they see you as a threat.

The streets taught me that everybody that smile in your face don't like you but yet they pretend to act like your their best friend. Let me tell you something, " You can fake a smile, but you can’t fake your feelings. Someone who smiles too much with you could very well be the one who talking too much behind your back. Theres an old adage from a 1971 song that i grew up on that taught me something it was a song written by Norman Whitfield and Barrett Strong entitled "Smiling Faces" which was originally recorded by the Temptations but re-recorded by The Undisputed Truth the Lyrics go like this:

Smiling faces sometimes

Pretend to be your friend

Smiling faces show no traces

Of the evil that lurks within

The truth is in the eyes

'Cause the eyes don't lie, Amen

Remember, a smile is just a frown turned upside down

My friend, so hear me when I'm saying

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes

They don't tell the truth

Smiling faces, smiling faces

Tell lies and I got proof

Beware, beware of the handshake that hides the snake

Beware, beware of the pat on the back

It just might hold you back

Jealousy, jealousy, misery, misery

Envy, envy, I tell you, you can't see behind

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes

They don't tell the truth

Smiling faces, smiling faces

Tell lies and I got proof

Your enemy won't do you no harm

'Cause you'll know where he's coming from

Don't let the handshake and the smile fool ya

Take my advice I'm only try' to school ya

Smiling faces, smiling faces sometimes

They don't tell the truth

Smiling faces, smiling faces

Tell lies and I got proof

What am I saying? While we may be surrounded by people with whom we socialize, we always find out that even most of them are not our friends. So Beware! We are often told that in order to win a friend we must first show our our own selves friendly. But Beware!

The older Saints definition of a friend was one who “Knew enough secrets about you to destroy you and doesn’t, and knows the worst things about you, and still seeks your best interest anyway.”
