Summary: So many prayers remain unanswered because believers employed natural intelligence in praying rather than praying with spiritual intelligence.

I want to speak to you about praying with spiritual intelligence. This is one of the prayer manners we must understand as we develop in the school of prayer.

Spiritual intelligence is superior to Natural intelligence

So many prayers remain unanswered because believers employed natural intelligence in praying rather than praying with spiritual intelligence.

What does it mean to pray with spiritual intelligence?

It’s an act of engaging your sanctified mind to pray with understanding based on the word of God (1 Corinthians 14:15)

Earlier, I mentioned how the Spirit helps us pray. The Spirit helps us pray by interceding for us with great intensity and unutterable words.

But we must understand another dimension of prayer that Paul called praying with understanding. It is what I called praying with spiritual intelligence.

In this kind of praying, the Holy Spirit engages your mind to ask or commune with God in understanding. It is simply an engagement of your sanctified mind to pray according to the will of God.

Praying with Spiritual Intelligence makes Your Understanding Fruitful

Whenever we pray in the spirit, our understanding is unfruitful except the Holy Spirit interprets our prayers to us (1 Corinthians 14:14).

But every time we engage our minds in prayer, we understand things we are praying about. And this kind of praying edifies those who don’t understand the prayer of the Spirit.

Know when to Draw a Balance

It's far more beneficial to pray with the spirit than to pray with the understanding; meanwhile, both are important. We only need to know when to draw a balance.

Now this is the Scriptural guide. In your personal prayer engagements, pray more in the Spirit. Nevertheless, whenever you’re in the public meetings, pray in the Spirit, yet more with understanding according to the word of God, that it may edify the spiritually uninformed among you.
