INTRO: Judah was carried off to Babylon for 70 years

1. Their sin took them farther that they wanted to go, cost them

more than they wanted to pay and hurt a lot more than they

could stand

2. Ezra 70-80 years later 458BC came & reinstated worship,

taught the Law

3. Nehemiah comes 15yrs later 444BC to rebuild the walls &

repopulate the land.

1. He was a cup bearer to the king

C. Chap 1-6 gives the recent history

1. Wall reconstructed and all the obstacles

2. Nation now to be rebuilt

D. Prevention of another fall is paramount

1. Walls of Life: home, church, city, community, nation will fall

a. Those things that provide security in life are important

2. When people fall into sin, those walls will fall

3. Prevention is Precaution

I. Things to Do to Prevent a Fall

A. Confirm Salvation: One of God’s

God’s Truth is everywhere, but you must look for it and at it to see it.

*Virginia Beach hosp. 1987 was sued by Eric Edmonds. Mr. Edmonds wanted to loose weight, had his stomach stapled. But with in 48 hours after his surgery he went to the nurses lounge area and got into their refrigerator. And ate so much it popped his staples. He sued the hospital for not keeping the refrigerator locked

2. When sin is committed, it will, you will REPENT!

a. fasting in sackcloth is a sign of remorse & repentance
