VIII. MAIN BODY:

Proverbs 7:10 (Amplified Bible)

And behold, there met him a woman, dressed as a harlot and sly and cunning of heart.

Proverbs 7:10 (King James Version)

And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart.

A. The harlot will meet you dressed to seduce

"And behold, there met him a woman, dressed as a harlot"

1 Timothy 2:9 (Amplified Bible)

Also [I desire] that women should adorn themselves modestly and appropriately and sensibly in seemly apparel, not with [elaborate] hair arrangement or gold or pearls or expensive clothing,

Revelation 17:3-5 (Amplified Bible)

And [the angel] bore me away [rapt] in the Spirit into a desert (wilderness), and I saw a woman seated on a scarlet beast that was all covered with blasphemous titles (names), and he had seven heads and ten horns.

The woman was robed in purple and scarlet and bedecked with gold, precious stones, and pearls, [and she was] holding in her hand a golden cup full of the accursed offenses and the filth of her lewdness and vice.

And on her forehead there was inscribed a name of mystery [with a secret symbolic meaning]: Babylon the great, the mother of prostitutes (idolatresses) and of the filth and atrocities and abominations of the earth.

Take the example of Tamar who dressed like a harlot to seduce his father-in-law Judah, because she knows Shelah was grown up and she was not given to him as his wife.

Genesis 38:14-15 (Amplified Bible)

So she put off her widow’s garments and covered herself with a veil, wrapped herself up [in disguise], and sat in the entrance of Enaim, which is by the road to Timnath; for she saw that Shelah was grown and she was not given to him as his wife.

When Judah saw her, he thought she was a harlot or devoted prostitute [under a vow to her goddess], for she had covered her face [as such women did].

B. The harlot has a sly and cunning heart

"and sly and cunning of heart"

Subtil, sly, cunning or "natsar" in Hebrew meaning: [for good] to protect, maintain, obey [for bad] to conceal, besieged, hidden thing, keep. Two meanings, while we CHRISTian believers we keep the first meaning in a good sense we protect, maintain and obey GOD's WORDS in our lives but the whole opposite is a harlot.

Genesis 3:1 (Amplified Bible)

NOW THE serpent was more subtle and crafty than any living creature of the field which the Lord God had made. And he [Satan] said to the woman, Can it really be that God has said, You shall not eat from every tree of the garden?

2 Corinthians 11:2-3 (Amplified Bible)

For I am zealous for you with a godly eagerness and a divine jealousy, for I have betrothed you to one Husband, to present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

But [now] I am fearful, lest that even as the serpent beguiled Eve by his cunning, so your minds may be corrupted and seduced from wholehearted and sincere and pure devotion to Christ.

ILLUSTRATION: I have an officemate and he always wins in argument, seems like it, he only likes things that will always benefit him, but now he's in a tragedy, because what he thinks will better him off, made him put himself into shame.

We have SOMEONE who protects us from shame and disgrace and that is the LORD JESUS within us.

Psalms 25:2 (Amplified Bible)

O my God, I trust, lean on, rely on, and am confident in You. Let me not be put to shame or [my hope in You] be disappointed; let not my enemies triumph over me.
