Psalm 106:1-15 Reasons to be Cheerful

1. God's Person -

His Mercy - 1 Praise ye the Lord. O give thanks unto the Lord;

for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

His Might - 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the Lord?

His Majesty - who can shew forth all his praise?

2. God's Promises - are to

Observed - 3 Blessed are they that keep judgment,

Obeyed - and he that doeth righteousness at all times.

And Obtained -

Personally - 4 Remember me,

Patiently - 4 Remember me, O Lord,

Positively - with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people:

Powerfully - O visit me with thy salvation;

3. God's Presence - as Found in -

His Goodness - 5 that I may see the good of thy chosen,

His Gladness - that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation,

His Glory - that I may glory with thine inheritance.

4. God's Purity - Exposing -

Man's Sin - It's Pain - 6 We have sinned

It's Peristence - 6 We have sinned with our fathers,

It's Pollution - we have committed iniquity,

It's Practice - we have done wickedly.

Man's Scorn - At -

His Miracles - 7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt;

His Mercies - they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies;

His Mysteries - but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea.

Man's Salvation -

To His Praise - 8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake,

By His Power - that he might make his mighty power to be known.

For His Purpose -

His Rebuke - 9 He rebuked the Red sea also, and it was dried up:

His Rule - he led them through the depths as through the wilderness

His Rescue - 10 he saved them from the hand of him that hated them

His Redemption - and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

His Retribution -

It was Full - 11 the waters covered their enemies:

It was Final - there was not one of them left.

It was Fearful - 12 Then believed they his words; they sang his praise.

Man's Stagnation -

It's Contempt - 13 They soon forgat his works;

It's Confusion - they waited not for his counsel:

It's Corruption - 14 but lusted exceedingly in the wilderness,

It's Confrontation - and tempted God in the desert.

It's Consolation - 15 And he gave them their request;

It's Condemnation - but sent leanness into their soul.
