Summary: It is God's promise, and He is not a man that he can lie. The power was poured and we only have to receive it. The power is the Holy Spirit.

I. CONCERNTRATION: on what the resurrected Christ commanded believers.

1. But you shall receive power, vv. 8.

2. After that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, vv. 8.

3. And you shall be witnesses unto me, vv. 8.

4. Both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth, vv. 8.

II. MEDITATION: on this command of Christ to the believers.

1. He commanded them to receive power: this is dunamis or dynamite power- the Jesus power.

2. First the Holy Ghost must overshadow them: power has a source and this power comes from the Holy Ghost.

3. Witnessing is not a job for the feeble minded: the Holy Ghost will bring boldness, illumination, utterance and power to witness to unbelievers.

4. Beginning from Jerusalem, Judea and all over the world: believers must start from where they are going outwards, from inside out.

III. REVELATION: on the acts of the Holy Ghost and the believers.

1. He must be received: the Holy Ghost is God’s gift who was poured out without measure and does not impose himself upon believers, we must receive him by faith.

2. He is the source of our Power: we must stay connected to the power that empowers us in ministry.

3. We must answer the great call: evangelism, missions and witnessing is the great commission to every believer.

4. We are on duty 24/7: starting within our family members, communities going into nations.

IV. APPLICATION: as a Christian, I must:

1. Receive and be baptized in the Holy Ghost.

2. Stay connected in the power of the Holy Ghost.

3. Preach in the revelation of the Holy Ghost.

4. Allow the Holy Ghost to influence my surroundings including the members of my family.
