Samuel responded, “Speak, for Your servant is listening.” 1 Samuel 3:10

This was the first interaction of Samuel with God. Eli taught him how to respond the right way when God speaks. When God is speaking, he changed his posture into a listening posture with a servant mentality. Samuel may have remained in this listening posture until God had finished speaking. God responded to Samuel’s one line with five lines that contained numerous words. A posture of asking will meet your needs, but a posture of listening will satisfies God’s needs. Servant mentality makes you partakers of God’s power. In listening posture we might hear numerous words from God.

Today let us continue in this listening posture like Samuel. Always listening to Jesus for his plans and our needs.

Speak Jesus, for your servant is listening

Speak Jesus, for your servant is a miserable sinner

Speak Jesus, for your servant went against your will

Speak Jesus, for your servant did not believe your words

Speak Jesus, for your servant has no faith

Speak Jesus, for your servant became wicked

Speak Jesus, for your servant has lot discernment

Speak Jesus, for your servant has lost love for others

Speak Jesus, for your servant has lot of pet sins

Speak Jesus, for your servant _____

Note – your servant is you.

Continue this prayer till Holy Spirit stops this prayer. Pour your heart before Jesus, pleading with him to reveal his heart(plans) and to take care of your every situation. God will definitely make a statement in the aforementioned prayer.

There are two aspects

1) Listen to hear what is on God’s heart.

We approach God with the intention of hearing what He desireth speaketh. We are fine with God speaking on any subject he desireth. We are waiting for God to finish speaking while in a hearing position. Whatever God revealed to Samuel was much beyond what people his age could comprehend. God comes and speaks to an unexperienced child and reveals His secrets. Samuel lacked the authority to address God’s concerns. Samuel brought comfort to God by listening to what was on his heart. By acknowledging our unworthiness, we sustain this posture of hearing. Our Unworthiness because of sins, backslidings draws God’s attention.

2)Listen to hear from God for every situation

When Jesus speaks for a situation, all confusion and turmoil will be gone. In spite of no external changes in the situation, your heart will be at peace and rest.

In Mark 4:35, Jesus and his disciples were in a boat that got caught in a fierce windstorm. Jesus got up, rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Silence! Be still!” The wind ceased, and there was a great calm. Jesus spoke, and the sea was calmed by the power and authority of His words. When Jesus speaks, the power in the words of Jesus can calm the greatest storm. The authority in the words is the same whether it is a quiet or thunderous voice. It has the same authority whether it is a dream, prophetic utterance, or vision.

Everyday empty your life (your plans, thoughts) before God and then he will speak many words. Our cups will be running and overflowing with all of these words.

David’s mouth was always overflowing with words about God. He may have poured his life before God on a daily basis, and God has filled him with numerous words.

Today there is a need for people who hear many words from God. David’s mouth was filled with praises as a result of the various words (promises, blessings, warnings, and corrections) that he heard from God.

These days we don’t have many praising and adoring words about Jesus because we don’t hear many words from Jesus. Because we don’t hear much from Jesus, we don’t have many words of appreciation and adoration for him. Make it a practise to hear from Jesus, for the smallest things to the greatest things.

When Jesus speaks to us, our conversations with others will also reflect the words Jesus spoke. Jesus’s words have lasting impressions on people. The words we utter that we have heard from Jesus will always be a blessing to other people. Even though these words are occasionally corrective, they nonetheless leave a lasting impression on us.

David first defeated Goliath with words that were uttered with the knowledge of God, and then he killed Goliath bodily. When we sit in God’s presence and hear from God, the words we hear become weapons to protect ourselves and destroy enemies. People who constantly adopt a listening position in front of God get to know God’s secrets.

Our life will become dry and we will gradually begin to experience famine if God does not communicate with us or if we lose the ability to hear from God. Make it a practise to hear from God from the scripture.
