Summary: Sanctification: - The action of making or declaring something holy. - The action or process of being freed from sin or purified.

1. Let God sanctify us.

a. It is the Lord who sanctifies us.

b. 2 Corinthians 5:21

God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.

2. Live with integrity.

a. Casting away pride and conceit.

i. Proverbs 29:23

Pride brings a person low, but the lowly in spirit gain honor.

ii. Titus 2:7

Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity.

b. Practicing honesty.

i. Proverbs 12:22

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, but those who act faithfully are his delight.

3. Turning away from committing sins.

a. Guarding the thoughts and behavior.

i. Does not seek gain to harm others

ii. 2 Corinthians 8:21

For we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord’s sight but also in the sight of man.

iii. Philippians 4:8

8Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

b. Using words that edifies.

i. Ephesians 4:29

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

ii. Colossians 4:6

Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.

4. Not walking in the way of the ungodly.

a. Psalm 1:1-2

1Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers,

2but whose delight is in the law of the LORD, and who meditates on his law day and night.

b. 1 Corinthians 15:33

Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character”.

c. 1 Thessalonians 5:11

Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing.

d. Galatians 6:10

Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.
