    The verse does not state that Shamgar was in fact a judge, but that he also delivered Israel. Therefore, his activity was similar to that of the judges.

    Shamgar is only mentioned twice in the book of Judges - in out text and in 5:6-7. Shamgar’s story almost seems incidental, but because he was too important to be omitted he is included in the Scriptures.
