There are forces of darkness described as spiritual wickedness that are warring against a believer. These dark forces are confronted and constrained through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The origin of wickedness

Genesis 6:5 records what God saw when he looked at men on the earth. He saw the great wickedness of men and the intentions of the hearts of men which was evil all the time. This scripture indicates that wickedness is an act, an action, an intention, and a thought which can be seen.

1 John 5:19 explains why wickedness exists. It exists and continues to exist because “the whole world is under the control of the evil one”.

Psalm 11: 2 reveals the wicked have instruments which they work with and who these instruments are targeted at. “The wicked bend their bows; they set their arrows against the strings to shoot from the shadows at the upright in heart“.

Psalm 58:3 -5 shows that wickedness can take hold of a child from the womb so it is possible for a person to be born wicked.

How do you know a person is wicked?

A person who has a spirit of wickedness is sinfully evil in all ways in areas of life. A person who is wicked has a mental disregard for justice, righteousness, truth, honor, virtue, evil in thought and life, depravity, sinfulness and criminality.

A wicked persons mouth is filled with cursing and deceit and oppression; under his tongue are mischief and iniquity. The wicked person is very proud, thinks supreme over others, he thinks of himself high, he is greedy, violent, anger, jealous, having manipulative and controlling tendencies, has unforgiving nature, revenge, heartless and remorseless cruel nature lacking empathy , compassion and kindness towards others. they are happy when there is confusion when they create conflicts and division. They hate unity, they are devourers pretending to be holy from outwards and they take pleasure in people’s suffering.

Punishment for wicked People: Isaiah 13:11 And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

Leviticus 26:18 And if ye will not yet for all this hearken unto me, then I will punish you seven times more for your sins.

Hosea 4:6-9 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children. 7 As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame. 8 They eat up the sin of my people, and they set their heart on their iniquity. 9 And there shall be, like people, like priest: and I will punish them for their ways, and reward them their doings.

Leviticus 26:19-20:19 I will break down your stubborn pride and make the sky above you like iron and the ground beneath you like bronze. 20 Your strength will be spent in vain, because your soil will not yield its crops, nor will the trees of your land yield their fruit.

Psalm 94:23He will repay them for their sins and destroy them for their wickedness; the Lord our God will destroy them.

Satan’s basic goal in temptation is to hinder, block, or sever our relationship with God. Satan will do anything to oppose the spread of the Kingdom of God or the preaching of the Gospel. Therefore, he will attempt to block our coming or returning to the Lord or move to block our growing into a deeper relationship with Jesus. Jesus came to defeat Satan’s hold on us; on the Cross by His blood we are made free. God intends for us to live a full life of joy and freedom.
