I. Misconceptions About Finances
A. My financial status determines my worth as a person
*Based upon lie #1 "Wealthy people are more important"
TRUTH: Every person is of equal value
Matthew 22:17-21 (quickview)  "Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar, or not?" But Jesus aware of their malice, said, "Why put me to the test, you hypocrites? Show me the money for the tax." And they brought him a coin. And Jesus said to them, "Whose likeness and inscription is this?" They said, "Caesar’s." Then he said to them, "Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s."
B. Our financial strategy should determine our course in life
*Based upon lie #2 "He/She who dies with the most wins!"
TRUTH: Our love for God should determine our course in life
Matthew 6:19-21 (quickview)  "Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust consume and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasure in heaven, where neither moth nor rust consumes and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also."
This does not mean we should not plan.
C. It’s God’s will that I should always be moving upwards and forward financially
"Name it! Claim it!"
John 16:23-24 (quickview)  "Truly, truly, I say to you, if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name. So far you have asked nothing in my name; ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full."
*Based upon lie #3 "Financial blessings are a direct indicator of spiritual blessings"
