THE DANGER: Success can lead to pride.

HIS SPECIFIC SIN: Being close to God is not a sufficient excuse for ignoring God’s instructions.

- 2 Chronicles 26:16b-18.

- You’re not actively doing evil and God has prospered you, so you don’t see where what you’re doing is wrong.

- Examples:

a. Preacher great at helping people doesn’t put safeguards in place with women counselees despite the fact that we are warned to beware of the power of sexual sin.

b. We are getting a ton out of our daily time in the Bible and in prayer so we start elevating it on social media (“to help others”) despite the fact that we’re commanded to do that in private with God.

A WARNING SIGN OF PRIDE: We respond to criticism with anger.

THE END RESULT (SOMETIMES): Forgiveness of sin does not always remove the consequences of sin.
