  Study Tools

THE GIFT

INTRO: DOES EVERYONE HAVE A GIFT?

1: YES!!

A) 1 COR 12 PAUL TEACHES US ABOUT SPIRITUAL GIFTS.

B) VERSES 7-11 TOUCHES ON SOME OF THE GIFTS

POINT: WE ALL HAVE SOME KIND OF GIFT, WE ALL HAVE SOME FUNCTION IN THE BODY OF CHRIST. OUR GIFTS ARE DIFFERENT AND WE ALL DON’T POSSESS THE SAME THING BUT GOD GIVES TO US ALL SOME WAY OF HONORING HIM IN SOME FORM OR FASHION.

2: USE YOUR GIFT

A) 1 TIMOTHY 4:11-16

B) NEGLECT NOT THE GIFT THAT IS IN THEE

C) HOW MANY PEOPLE DO JUST THAT

D) SIT ON A PEW AND NEVER UTILIZE WHAT GOD HAS BLESSED THEM WITH.

POINT: TRUTH IN FACT IS THAT MOST CHURCH MEMBERS ONLY BELIEVE THAT THE PASTOR AND OTHER LEADERS ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO HAVE THE ABILITY TO USE THEIR GIFTS, PAUL INSTRUCTS TIMOTHY TO USE HIS GIFT AND HOLD OTHERS ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIRS.

BODY: THE GIFT

1: HOW DO YOU DISCOVER IT?

A) PAUL SPEAKS OF THE DOCTRINE

B) THE FUNDAMENTAL TRUTH OF THE CHRISTIAN BELIEF

C) TOO MANY PEOPLE DON’T EVEN KNOW BASIC BIBLE TRUTHS

POINT: THINK OF IT LIKE THIS. HOW MANY PEOPLE IN THE CHURCH CAN TAKE A BIBLE AND SHOW SOMEONE HOW TO BE SAVED? YOU SEE BEFORE YOU CAN DISCOVER YOUR GIFT YOU HAVE TO DISCOVER WHAT YOUR GIFT PERTAINS TOO.

2: EACH GIFT IS TO LEAD PEOPLE TO CHRIST.

A) TOO MANY TIMES PEOPLE USE MINISTRY FOR SELF GLORIFICATION

B) EACH OF US SHOULD BE AN EXAMPLE OF FAITH

C) NOT A PERSON CONCERNED ONLY WITH SELF

POINT: WORD CONVERSATION CHARITY SPIRIT FAITH AND PURITY, WORDS USED BY PAUL TO TELL TIMOTHY HOW TO BE AN EXAMPLE. IN ALL THESE THINGS WE CAN FIND AN OPPORTUNITY TO WITNESS OR PROCLAIM THE GOOD NEWS. NO MATTER THE FIELD OR GIFT IT SHOULD BE USED TO EXPRESS THE GOODNESS OF JESUS CHRIST.

3: GIVE THYSELF WHOLLY

A) TOUGH PILL FOR MOST TO SWALLOW

B) MANY PEOPLE ONLY WANT TO DO WHAT THEY WANT

C) TO REACH FULL CAPACITY IN CHRIST YOU HAVE TO BE SOLD OUT TO WHATEVER IT IS YOU DO FOR CHRIST

POINT: FROM THE WELCOMERS TO THE JANITOR EVEN THE PASTOR EVERYONE HAS TO BE SOLD OUT TO CHRIST TO REACH PAST MEDIOCRE AND HAVE EXCELLENCE IN ALL ASPECTS OF THE MINISTRY OF A CHURCH. EVERYONE USING THEIR GIFTS TO THE BEST OF THEIR ABILITY.

CLOSING: VERSE 11 1 TIMOTHY 4

THESE THINGS COMMAND AND TEACH

1: EXCELLENCE

A) GOD DID NOT SELL US SHORT

B) HE SENT THE BEST

C) HIS SON

POINT: NEVER ONCE DO WE SEE JESUS CHRIST NEGLECT THE GIFT HE BROUGHT TO US. HE FULFILLED EVERY REQUIREMENT GIVEN TO TIMOTHY BY PAUL. HE WAS PURE, HE WAS FAITHFUL, HE WAS LOVING, HE WAS CONSTRUCTIVE IN ALL OF HIS TEACHINGS AND SPEAKING, HE GIVES OF HIS SELF WHOLLY

2: ACCOUNTABILITY

A) A WILLINGNESS TO ACCEPT RESPONSIBILITY

B) EACH OF US SHOULD HOLD OURSELVES AND OTHERS AROUND US ACCOUNTABLE

C) WE SHOULD TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY THE RESPONSIBILITY OF DELIVERING THE GOOD NEWS TO A LOST A DYING WORLD

POINT: WHY IS THIS IMPORATNT? PAUL SAYS IN VERSE 16 THY SHALL SAVE THYSELF AND THOSE THAT HEAR YOU. HOW MANY OF US WANT TO TAKE SOME PEOPLE WITH US TO HEAVEN? THE GIFT GIVEN TO US FREELY. NEGLECT NOT THE OPPORTUNITY TO ALLOW SOMEONE ELSE TO RECEIVE WHAT YOU HAVE.
