BIG IDEA: TRUSTING IN GOD BEATS TRUSTING IN MAN

“Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul!

I will praise the Lord while I live;

I will sing praises to my God while I have my being.”

“His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;

In that very day his thoughts perish.”

“How blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,

Whose hope is in the Lord his God;”

A. Creator of All

“Who made heaven and earth,

The sea and all that is in them”

DEVOTIONAL QUESTIONS:

1) Where do we find ourselves placing undue confidence and trust in our undershepherds in the church rather than in the Great Shepherd who gave His life for the

sheep?

2) Think of this life as an opportunity to express Praise for the God whom we trust while we still walk by faith rather than by sight. Have we taken full advantage of that opportunity today?

3) Think of the Messianic implications of this psalm. Compare the types of capabilities mentioned in verses 6-9 to those applied to the Messiah in Isaiah 61:1-3 (quoted by the Lord in Luke 4:18-19).

4) What types of sins held us prisoner before the Lord set us free?
