Youth Sermon: The Mission

Introduction

Today, we're going to talk about how we can make a difference in the lives of others. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own lives that we forget about the people around us. But Jesus wants us to notice others and show them that they matter. So, let's dive into this topic and see how we can make an impact on the people around us.

To start, I want to show you something. (Hold up a small object, like a coin or a key.) This may seem like just an ordinary object, but it can actually teach us a lot about the power of small actions. Just like this small object can make a big difference in our lives (like unlocking a door or buying something we need), our small acts of kindness can make a huge difference in the lives of others.

Just like this small object can make a big difference in our lives, our small acts of kindness can make a huge difference in the lives of others.

Matthew 25:37-40

In Matthew 25:37-40, Jesus talks about how even the smallest acts of kindness, like giving someone a cup of water, can have an eternal impact. So, let's think about how we can start noticing others and showing them that they matter.

One way to do this is by praying a simple prayer every day: 'Lord, what do they need? What should I do?' This prayer can help us focus on the needs of others and guide us in how we can help them.

Practical Application

For example, let's say you have a friend who's going through a tough time. Instead of just saying, 'I'm sorry, how can I help?' and then forgetting about it, try praying that prayer. Ask God what your friend needs and what you can do to help. Maybe they need someone to listen to them, or maybe they need a hug. Whatever it is, God will guide you in how to make a difference in their life.

Now, I know this might sound a bit scary. What if God asks us to do something big, like give away our favorite video game or help someone we don't really like? But remember, it's the small acts of kindness that can make the biggest impact. And when we step out in faith and follow God's guidance, we'll see amazing things happen.

Challenge and Prayer

So, here's a challenge for all of us this week: let's try praying that simple prayer every day for someone in our lives. It could be a friend, a family member, or even someone we don't know very well. And as we do this, let's watch how God uses our small acts of kindness to make a big difference in the lives of others.

Let's pray together: God, thank You for showing us how much we matter to You. Help us to notice others and show them that they matter too. Guide us in how we can make a difference in their lives, and give us the courage to follow Your lead. In Jesus' name, amen.
