Highlight the power of even the smallest amount of faith and God's boundless mercy and grace, as demonstrated in the story of the Canaanite woman in Matthew 15:10-28.

Introduction

Good morning, family! Today we're going to dig into the Word together, examining a passage that's all about the power of faith, even the smallest kind, and about the mercy and grace of our mighty God.

As Corrie Ten Boom once said, "Faith is like radar that sees through the fog—the reality of things at a distance that the human eye cannot see."

Let's turn our Bibles to Matthew 15:10-28:

The Power of a Crumb

The power of a crumb speaks to the notion that even the smallest amount of faith can yield significant results. The Canaanite woman in the story had faith that was as small as a crumb, yet it was powerful enough to bring about the healing of her daughter. This is a testament to the fact that it's not the size of our faith that matters, but the greatness of the God in whom we place that faith.

The woman's faith was persistent: Despite being initially ignored and then seemingly rebuffed by Jesus, she did not give up. She continued to plead for her daughter's healing. This persistence is a key aspect of the power of a crumb. It's not just about having faith, but about holding onto that faith, even when the circumstances seem to be against us. It's about believing in God's power and mercy, even when we feel like we're only getting crumbs from His table.

Its potential to grow: A crumb, though small, contains within it the potential to become something much larger. In the same way, our faith, though it may start as a crumb, can grow into something much larger and more powerful. This growth is not something we can achieve on our own, but it's something that God can bring about in us. As we continue to trust in Him, to rely on Him, and to seek Him, our faith can grow and multiply, becoming a powerful force in our lives.

Its ability to influence others: The Canaanite woman's faith, though it was as small as a crumb, had a profound impact on those around her. Her faith moved Jesus to heal her daughter, and her story has been inspiring believers for centuries. In the same way, our faith, though it may seem small and insignificant, can have a profound impact on those around us. It can inspire others, encourage them, and draw them closer to God.

The quality of our faith: The Canaanite woman's faith was small, but it was sincere and genuine. She truly believed that Jesus could heal her daughter, and she was willing to humble herself and plead for His help. This sincerity and genuineness is a key aspect of the power of a crumb. It's not just about having faith, but about having a faith that is real, that is lived out in our daily lives, and that is rooted in a deep love for God.
