Summary: God’s promise of His Divine forgiveness is what eveyone needs.

We are like animals, when we kill,

We are like men, when we judge,

We are like God, when we forgive.

We should forgive and then forget what we have forgiven.

"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"

First, we see there is a sure Foundation for Forgiveness.

"He is faithful" -This speaks of God’s faithfulnes in His word. What He says, He will do.

"He is just"-This speaks of how God’s works are righteous. Every act God does is right.

Now only do we see there is a sure Foundation for Forgiveness,

Secondly, we see there is a sure Provision for Forgiveness.

"He...forgives & cleasne us from all unrighteousness"

"Forgive" is to send away

"Cleasne" speaks to the ongoing cleasning necessary for fellowship with God.

Lev. 16:21-The Day of Atonement

God remits the guilt of sin-"He is faithful & just to forgive us our sins"

God sends our sins away from us.

First God sends our sins to the Place of no remembrance.

Isaiah 38:17

Jeremiah 31:34

Secondly, God sends our sins to the place of no recovery.

"He will turn again, He will have compassion upon us; He will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea."

Thirdly, God sends our sins to the place of no return.

Psalm 103:12

Not only does God remit our sins, but He also removes the grip of sin-"He is cleasne us from all unrighteousness"

Now we have seen the foundation for forgiveness, and the provision for forgiveness, but thirdly, we finally see that there is a sure Condition for Forgiveness.

"if we confess our sins"

"confess" indicates for believers to continue to agree with God that we have violated His holiness. It implies an ongoing action of confessing to God, not just once but ongoing.

We must tell God about our sins

Private sins-Proverbs 28:13

Personal sins-Matthew 5:23-24

Public sins-Matthew 18:15-17

We must trust God about our sins

We must trust God, because God is FAITHFUL

We must thank God about our sins

Philippians 4:6

All our request in prayer are to be made-"with thanksgiving"

In closing if we do not confess our sins to God, then we are not being honest with ourselves.
