Sermons

Summary: Forgiveness is a difficult process. When we are hurt by someone and we do not know what to do, we often keep that anger and sadness within us and cut that person off from our lives.

John 3:19-20 :"This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil. Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed."

Today, we confront a sobering truth that some people prefer to remain in their sins, refusing the forgiveness and redemption offered through Jesus Christ. This choice has eternal consequences, and we must understand the gravity of rejecting God's mercy.

The Reality of Sin

1. Sin Separates Us from God (Isaiah 59:2)

Sin creates a chasm between us and our holy God, leading to spiritual death.

1. Sin Brings Darkness and Slavery (John 8:34)

Sin enslaves us, and we become trapped in darkness, unable to escape on our own.

The Offer of Forgiveness

1. God's Love and Mercy (John 3:16)

God loves us so deeply that He sent His only Son to die for our sins, offering forgiveness and redemption.

1. The Gift of Salvation (Romans 6:23)

Through faith in Jesus Christ, we receive the gift of salvation, freeing us from sin's grip.

The Tragedy of Refusal

1. Rejecting the Light (John 3:19-20)

Some people prefer darkness, refusing the light of forgiveness and remaining in their sins.

1. Eternal Consequences (Matthew 25:46)

Rejecting God's mercy leads to eternal separation from Him, a fate worse than death.

Refusing forgiveness and redemption is a tragic choice, leading to eternal separation from God. Let us embrace the light of forgiveness, confessing our sins and receiving the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ.

Prayer

Dear Heavenly Father,

We pray for those who refuse Your mercy, that their hearts may be softened to receive Your forgiveness. Help us to share the light of Your love with those trapped in darkness, that they may turn to You and find eternal life.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
