Spiritual Growth and Fitness
Intro: This is the last message in the Spiritual Growth and Fitness series.
P – Prayer
W – Word
M – Meditation
H – Confession of Sin
There are three essential things for a person to grow up healthy. (We want to be healthy, don’t we?)
These must be kept in balance.
Vitamin S – Service.
A. Serve the Lord with gladness – Psalm 100:2
B.Serve the Lord With all you heart.
C. The example of Hezekiah’s service.
1. Hezekiah served the Lord with a Passion for God. Chron. 29:2
2. Hezekiah served the Lord with a pure motive.
--Not because it “makes me feel good”.
--Not for the attention or glory.
--Not for the money.
--But for the glory of God.
1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
3. Serving the Lord is one of the things that will cause you to grow.
a. You will learn more as you serve.
b. You will learn to be criticized (like Jesus)
c. You will learn to depend on the Lord.
d. You will learn to identify with Jesus. (be like Him)
1 Peter 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called:
because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an
example, that ye should follow his steps:
Exercise – Stretch
1.It may be time to stretch yourself.
2.It may be time to step out and take the risk.
3.It’s time for some of you to step up to your place of service.
4. I don’t know what I can do?
-Every Sunday School class needs a helper.
-Soon we will begin a new ministry on Wed. night.
-We shouldn’t have to pay someone to clean the
church, you could do that.
-I would like to see a few more voices in our Praise
5. There is a first time for everything.
-Preaching, teaching. Etc.
-It is scary….
-People are going to say things…(who are you serving
-You might not get it right the first time.
6. Step up…stretch a little, and find a place to serve
-For exercise to be any good…you have to do it.
Rest with your eternal rewards.
Colossians 3:24 Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
