Things That The Word Of God Gives
I. It Gives Life. Vs. 25, 37, 40, 50, 88, 93
The word “Quicken” means to give Life
John 1:1-4 (quickview)  “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.”
This passage is one of the High points of Scripture. In fact, it probably reaches the highest of human thought. What is this thought?
It is this: Jesus Christ, the Son of God, is...
· the Word of God
· the Creator of Life
· the Very Being and Essence of Life.
These three important truths lie at the very foundation of life. They cannot be overstated, for they determine a man’s destiny. If Jesus Christ is the Word of God, then men must hear and understand that Word or else be lost forever in ignorance of God Himself.
Jesus Christ the Living Word is the source of life: He is the way to life and He is the truth of life. He is the very substance of life, its very being and energy.
God’s word points us to the savior from Genesis to Revelation.
II. It Gives Strength. Vs.28
Joshua 1:8 (quickview)  “This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success."
Everybody today wants Strength, why not turn to the power source
A. The Bible claims Power as a sword.
Hebrews 4:12 (quickview)  - For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
The Bible will separate man from sin or sin will separate man from the Bible.
B. The Bible claims power as a mirror.
James 1:22-24 (quickview)  But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass: For he beholdeth himself, and goeth his way, and straightway forgetteth what manner of man he was.
In the Bible, we see ourselves as God sees us - As Sinners.
C. The Bible claims cleansing power.
Ephes. 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,
D. The Bible claims reproductive power as seed.
E. The Bible claims nourishing power as food.
You see now what Paul was speaking of in our text, "He is able to do exceeding, abundantly above all we can ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us!
