Wealthy people are unapproachable, have problems in traveling alone.

Conversations:

Guy: I would like to invite you to our church to come.

Rich Guy: Sorry I can't travel alone. Does you church entertain poor people? If so, I don't want to come.

Guy: I would like to invite you to come and visit our church.

Rich Guy: Sorry I only have 3 cars at the moment, and all of them are being used by my children. I would love to come, if I can be escorted to your church. I don't travel alone, because I'm afraid I will be kidnapped.

To show that true wealth is the LORD

IV. TEXT:

Proverbs 23:4-5

Pro 23:4 Be wise enough not to wear yourself out trying to get rich.

Pro 23:5 Your money can be gone in a flash, as if it had grown wings and flown away like an eagle.

V. THESIS:

To be wealthy focus on the LORD.

TO GAIN REAL WEALTH

VII. EXPLICATION:

A. Overall Theme: Proverbs 23 - part of 30 sayings of the wise - Thirty "Sayings of the Wise" (Proverbs 22:27-24:22); Solomon switched from being a writer to a collector of these sayings.

B. Author: Solomon known as author and collector of sayings

C. Time of Writing: around 970 to 931 BC

D. Purpose of Writing: To give importance of Fear of God over worldly wisdom

VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. If you want to be wealthy, set your mind on things above. (Phil. 4:8)

Php 4:8 Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is fair, whatever is pure, whatever is acceptable, whatever is commendable, if there is anything of excellence and if there is anything praiseworthy—keep thinking about these things.

B. Wealth and Riches Are Gone In a Flash. (1 Timothy 6:9-10,17)

1. Riches are uncertain. (1 Timothy 6:17)

1 Timothy 6:9 But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and are caught in the trap of many foolish and harmful desires, which pull them down to ruin and destruction.

1Timothy 6:10 For the love of money is a source of all kinds of evil. Some have been so eager to have it that they have wandered away from the faith and have broken their hearts with many sorrows.

1 Timothy 6:17 Command those who are rich in the things of this life not to be proud, but to place their hope, not in such an uncertain thing as riches, but in God, who generously gives us everything for our enjoyment.

IX. CONCLUSION:

Matthew 19:22-24

Matthew 19:22 When the young man heard this, he went away sad, because he was very rich.

Matthew 19:23 Jesus then said to his disciples, "I assure you: it will be very hard for rich people to enter the Kingdom of heaven.

Matthew 19:24 I repeat: it is much harder for a rich person to enter the Kingdom of God than for a camel to go through the eye of a needle.

Challenge: 3 John 1:2

Real wealth and riches can only be gained by fear of the LORD, and desire to serve the LORD

Complete prosperity: spirit, soul and body.
