VIII. MAIN BODY:

A. Those who understand will receive more

"Those who have understanding will be given more."

Hath or "echo" in Greek meaning:

1. to hold such as possession, ability

We treat spiritual understanding like we hold our possession and ability. We use it to serve the LORD.

Proverbs 1:5 (Amplified Bible)

1:5 The wise also will hear and increase in learning, and the person of understanding will acquire skill and attain to sound counsel [so that he may be able to steer his course rightly]—

Proverbs 9:9 (Amplified Bible)

9:9 Give instruction to a wise man and he will be yet wiser; teach a righteous man (one upright and in right standing with God) and he will increase in learning.

Proverbs 3:13 (Amplified Bible)

3:13 Happy (blessed, fortunate, enviable) is the man who finds skillful and godly Wisdom, and the man who gets understanding [drawing it forth from God’s Word and life’s experiences],

We get understanding only via grace, it's a gift that we don't deserve from GOD.

Ephesians 1:7-8 (Amplified Bible)

1:7 In Him we have redemption (deliverance and salvation) through His blood, the remission (forgiveness) of our offenses (shortcomings and trespasses), in accordance with the riches and the generosity of His gracious favor,

1:8 Which He lavished upon us in every kind of wisdom and understanding (practical insight and prudence),

Always read the bible and aim for understanding, this is where we can increase our spiritual understanding of GOD's WORDS.

Ephesians 3:4 (Amplified Bible)

3:4 When you read this you can understand my insight into the mystery of Christ.

B. Those who don't understand, even what they think they have will be taken away from them.

"But those who do not have understanding, even what they have will be taken away from them."

Whatever effort the unbeliever will put in to get spiritual understanding it will fail, because they don't have CHRIST and the WORD of GOD to read, meditate and understand.

Ephesians 4:18 (Amplified Bible)

4:18 Their moral understanding is darkened and their reasoning is beclouded. [They are] alienated (estranged, self-banished) from the life of God [with no share in it; this is] because of the ignorance (the want of knowledge and perception, the willful blindness) that is deep-seated in them, due to their hardness of heart [to the insensitiveness of their moral nature].

Because they reject knowledge, that's why spiritual understanding is withheld from them and without understanding they will be destroyed. (Therefore the people without understanding shall stumble and fall and come to ruin. - Hosea 4:14 )

Hosea 4:14 (Amplified Bible)

4:14 I will not punish your daughters when they play the harlot nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery, for [the fathers and husbands] themselves go aside in order to be alone with women who prostitute themselves for gain, and they sacrifice at the altar with dedicated harlots [who surrender their chastity in honor of the goddess]. Therefore the people without understanding shall stumble and fall and come to ruin.

Hosea 4:6 (Amplified Bible)

4:6 My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.

Matthew 4:4 (King James Version)
