Psalm 86 "UNITY" Their Is But -

I. ONE SOVEREIGN - 1-10

1. The Seeker - Hear Me:

His Reverence - 1 Bow down thine ear, O Lord,

His Request - O LORD, hear me

His Recognition - for I am poor and needy.

His Condition - for I am poor,

His Contrition - and needy.

His Confession - for I am poor and needy.

2. The Shelter - Hide Me

His Defiance - 2 Preserve my soul;,

His Defence - for I am holy:

His Deference - O thou my God,

His Dependence - save thy servant that trusteth in thee.

3. The Saviour - Hold Me - He Seeks -

Our Supplication - 3 Be merciful unto me, O Lord: for I cry unto thee daily

Our Satisfaction - 4 Rejoice the soul of thy servant:

Our Salvation - 4 for unto thee, O Lord, do I lift up my soul.

4. The Supplier - Help Me

His Perfection - 5 For thou, Lord, art good,

His Pardon - and ready to forgive;

His Patience - and plenteous in mercy

His Power - unto all them that call upon thee.

His Perception - He Hears

When we Call - 6 Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer;

and attend to the voice of my supplications.

Why we Call - 7 In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.

What we Call - 8 Among the gods there is none like unto thee, O Lord

neither are there any works like unto thy works.

While we Call - 9 All nations whom thou hast made shall come and worship before thee,

O Lord; and shall glorify thy name. 10 For thou art great, and doest wondrous things:

thou art God alone

II. ONE SONG - 11-13 Of -

God's Word -

11 Teach me thy way, O Lord; I will walk in thy truth: unite my heart to fear thy name.

God's Worship -

12 I will praise thee, O Lord my God, with all my heart: I will glorify thy name for evermore.

God's Work -

13 For great is thy mercy toward me: and thou hast delivered my soul from the lowest hell.

III. ONE SAVIOUR - 14-17

A. Our Adversaries - Their -

Pride - 14 O God, the proud are risen against me,

Passion - and the assemblies of violent men have sought after my soul

Presumption - and have not set thee before them.

B. Our Advocate -

His Lordship - 15 But thou, O Lord, art a God

His Love - full of compassion, and gracious

His Longsuffering - longsuffering,

His Liberty - and plenteous in mercy and truth.

C. Our Advocacy -

A Divine Support - 16 O turn unto me, and have mercy upon me;

A Divine Strength - give thy strength unto thy servant,

A Divine Salvation - and save the son of thine handmaid.

A Divine Surety -

Signs will be Confirmed - 17 Shew me a token for good;

Slander will be Confounded - that they which hate me may see it, and be ashamed:

Salvation will be Confessed - because thou, Lord, hast holpen me, and comforted me.
