Emphasize the importance of waiting on God's Word, trusting in His timing, and the blessings that come with patience.

Introduction

Good morning, church family! Today we're diving into the book of Acts and we'll be talking about three crucial themes: the power of waiting on God's word, the promise of God's timing, and the blessing of patience.

In his wisdom, God sometimes asks us to wait. It might not be easy, but it's always worth it. As Oswald Chambers once said, "God's silences are His answers. If we only take as answers those that are visible to our senses, we are in a very elementary condition of grace."

Here is our scripture passage for today:

[Read passage]

Let us pray.

Heavenly Father, we are so grateful for Your Word and the promises it holds. As we delve into these verses today, we ask for patience and understanding. Help us to trust in Your timing, even when we can't see the outcome. Fill us with the power of Your Spirit as we wait on Your Word. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Let’s get started!

The Power of Waiting on God's Word

The power of waiting on God's Word is a principle that is both challenging and rewarding, as it calls us to surrender our own timing and expectations, and instead, embrace God's perfect timing and His infallible Word.

The development of patience: In our fast-paced world, we are often driven by immediacy and quick results. However, the biblical principle of waiting teaches us that there is value in patience. As we wait on God's Word, we learn to slow down, to listen, and to wait for His guidance. This patience is not passive, but rather, it is an active and intentional decision to trust in God's timing. It is a patience that is rooted in faith, knowing that God's Word will come to pass in His perfect time.

The cultivation of trust: Trusting in God's Word means believing that His promises are true, even when our circumstances suggest otherwise. It means holding onto His promises, even when we are faced with doubts and uncertainties. This trust is not blind, but it is grounded in the knowledge of God's character and His faithfulness. As we wait on God's Word, our trust in Him grows, and our faith is strengthened.

The experience of peace: When we wait on God's Word, we are able to experience a peace that surpasses all understanding. This peace comes from knowing that God is in control, and that His Word will not return void. It is a peace that calms our anxieties, quiets our fears, and gives us hope in the midst of our waiting.

The anticipation of God's intervention: When we wait on God's Word, we are filled with a sense of anticipation and expectation. We look forward to seeing how God will fulfill His Word, and we are excited to witness His power and glory. This anticipation fuels our hope and keeps us focused on God, even in the midst of our waiting.

Not about waiting for something to happen: It is about growing in our relationship with God, deepening our faith, and experiencing His peace and presence in our lives. It is about learning to trust in His timing, and to anticipate His intervention with hope and expectation.
