WE NEED SOME DREAMERS TO ARISE!

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

I. WE NEED DREAMERS IN OUR FAMILIES AND IN OUR CHURCHES. GOD HAD A PLAN AND LIFTED UP JOSEPH TO DREAM AND SUSTAIN HIS FAMILY.

A. Jacob married Leah and worked another 7 years to marry Rachel. Joseph had 11 brothers.

B. Joseph had 10 half brothers by Jacob and Leah.

And Jacob wife Rachel was his true love, they had two sons.

Joseph had 1 whole brother, Benjamin.

Genesis 37:4 And when his brethren saw that their father loved him more than all his brethren, they hated him, and could not speak peaceably

unto him.

C. Remember at best Jacob’s family was dysfunctional.

But God had a plan for dysfunctional homes.

Genesis 37:5 And Joseph dreamed a dream, and he told it his brethren: and they hated him yet the more.

D. PART OF GOD’S PLAN WAS TO RAISE UP A DREAMER FROM WITHIN THE FAMILY.

II. HERE COMES THE DREAMER?

DREAMERS NEED GODLY WISDOM AND SPIRITUAL TACT!

What the brothers meant as negative, was going to be the source of refuge and resource to sustain the whole family.

A. Joseph was 17 years old, and was mouthy and practiced self-edification.

Being the 11th son of 12 was within itself a big problem.

Genesis 37:19 And they said one to another, Behold, this dreamer cometh.

B. Joseph was a KEY in his family, he would be a GAPSTANDER FOR THEM ALL.

C. WE SHALL SEE WHAT WILL COME OF HIS DREAMS.

Genesis 37:20 Come now therefore, and let us slay him, and cast him into some pit, and we will say, Some evil beast hath devoured him: and we shall see what will

become of his dreams.

D. SOMETIMES THE LIFT OUT OF THE WELL IS NOT WHAT WE EXPECTED. BUT WE MUST DREAM ON --- HOPE ON --- AND FIND JOY IN THE MENIAL!

E. IMAGINE JOSEPH’S DESCRIPTION OF HIS DREAM AT 17?

THEN WHAT MIGHT HAVE BEEN JOSEPH’S DREAMS 13 YEARS LATER.

AT 30 JOSEPH HAD BECOME A WISE DREAMER.

WHAT DREAMS MIGHT BECOME US?

III. VERY LITTLE IN LIFE CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED WITHOUT OPTIMISM, HOPE, ENTHUSIASM AND JOY!

Humans are the only varmints that set their own traps and then put their necks in the very trap they just set?

A. I would like us to consider more than just dreaming, it is OK to loose a dream,

if we pick up a new dream.

B. THERE ARE TWO BASIC APPROACHES OR ATTITUDES IN LIFE.

1. OPTIMISM:

Inclined to be full of hope and confidence.

A theory that good will prevail over bad.

Positive, constructive thinking.

Cheerful, good spirits, pleasant, bright.

2. PESSIMISM:

Gloomy, dreary, miserable.

The tendency to expect the worst.

The belief that all things will be gloomy.

Defeatism --- ready to accept defeat as a norm.

Negativity in attitude.

Discouragement

Cynicism --- a person with little to no faith in people or God.

THERE ARE MORE THAN JUST NEGATIVE THINKING PATTERNS ---

THERE ARE WRONGFUL THINKING PATTERNS --- AND THIS

PESSIMISM BECOMES PRISONS THAT LIMIT GOD IN US.

C. MISERY LOVES COMPANY!

D. BLESSED IS HE WHO EXPECTS NOTHING, FOR HE SHALL RECEIVE EXACTLY WHAT HE EXPECTED.

E. We are headed toward great pain and many days in the desert if we loose our dreaming ability!

F. Why did the children of Israel spend 40 years in the desert?

The Bible answers this:

Numbers 14:34 After the number of the days in which ye searched the land, even forty days, each day for a year, shall ye bear your iniquities, even forty years, and ye shall know my breach of promise.

G. IN THE LONG TERM THE PESSMISTIC PERSON MAY BE RIGHT, BUT THE OPTIMIST WILL ENJOY THE JOURNEY ALOT BETTER.

IV. WHERE THERE IS NO WOOD THE FIRE GOES OUT!

WE NEED TO DREAM A NEW DREAM OF HOPE AND ENCOURAGEMENT!

A. One of the saddest cases in human history has to be when God’s people loose all hope and joy and the enemy steals our DREAMING ABILITY.

Proverbs 26:20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.

21 As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.

B. DO WE DARE TO DREAM? Have you ever written down your dream?

Do you verbalize your dreams?

V. ESTABLISH A LABOR OF LOVE!

HOW DO ANTS ACCOMPLISH WORK?

Proverbs 6:6 Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise:

A. MANY THINGS IN THIS WORLD HAPPEN BECAUSE SOMEONE CAME UP WITH A THOUGHT --- AND GAVE THE ORDER THAT OTHERS HAD TO FOLLOW, AND THEN ACCOMPLISH THE GOAL.

B. The ANT is a different creature. God’s word knew we in the church need to study the ANT, and apply the lessons to our hearts.
