We Need Revival Series

Summary: I believe with all my heart that we need a revival at the old-time religion.
What is a revival? A revival is a moving toward God by the people of God. Revival causes God's people to become active for the Lord once again. Revivals are produced by three things: preaching the word of God, hearing the word of God, and obeying the word of God.
This hour certainly cries for revival. We need a revival because our churches are filled with discontented and restless people. We need a revival because we are not winning as many souls as we ought to be winning for Christ. Some churches today don't minimize one convert in a year. We need to hear God's word once again in 2 Chronicles 7:14
What kind of revival do we need today?
I. We Need a Church Revival of Weeping and Confessing Sins
1. I have never seen a revival of any magnitude without weeping and confessing of sins.
a. Abraham wept before God for Sodom and Gomorrah.
b. Ezra wept and the people wept. Ezra 10:1
c. Paul wept, Acts 20:31
d. Jesus wept over Jerusalem.
2. There is plenty that we could weep over today if we would just get honest about it.
a. There is the coldness of our own hearts.
b. There is the shallowness of our zeal.
c. The fruitlessness of our lives.
d. The backslidden condition of so many church members.
e. The Sunday night and Wednesday night services.
f. We need to weep over the unsaved.
3. We will never have the church revival we need until church members are willing to confess their sins. 1 John 1:9
4. We have to quit expecting God to bless our sins. We have to confess our sins, weep over our sins if we expect God to send us a great revival.
II. We Need a Revival of Old-Time Gospel Preaching and Bible Study
1. Acts 5:42, That's the revival we need. Do you know what the songwriter meant in the song, “I love to tell the story?”
2. The message of the Bible never gets old. It is always up to date. It is God's answer to the deepest question of the human heart. It tells of Christ, the son of God.
3. No wonder the devil hates this book. No wonder he tempted preachers to preach everything else but what is found in the word of God.
4. It's a shame that many Baptists can't even quote John 3:16 they can't even take their Bible and show a Sinner the simple plan of salvation.
5. We need to get excited about preaching the word of God. Nothing excites me more.
III. We Need a Revival of Separated Living
2. Let me say somethings right now so you will understand our position and what we believe to be the truth in the word of God about separated living.
3. I believe that Pastors should take a stand. People shouldn’t have to come to church and wonder where we stand on certain issues.
4. We ought to blow the trumpet clearly so everybody will know and be instructed, exhorted, and helped.
5. I believe with all my heart that immorality is sin. Sexual sins are destroying this nation.
6. I am convinced that drinking is a sin. Habakkuk 2:15
7. It is my conviction that people ought to dress modestly. 1 Timothy 2:9-10
8. I don’t think a child of God should smoke.
9. 1 John 2:15, both loves cannot remain in one heart. No man can serve two masters. It makes a great difference who your master is.
10. If we love the world as God loves it, we will also hate the evil and sin that is in it.
IV. We Need a Chruch Revival that Will Give Us some Home Religion
1. No church is going to be any stronger than it’s homes.as the home goes, so goes the church.
2. You can’t live like the Devil Monday through Saturday and then come to church on Sunday and expect to have an old-fashioned revival service.
3. Early American homes were old-fashioned Christian homes.
4. I believe, first of all, there are just too many outside activities. They may be good activities, but they cause our homes to be neglected.
5. Second there are too many outside organizations. If you will just be faithful to the church, you won’t have time for other organizations.
6. The third reason is too little parental discipline. Ephesians 6:1-4
7. The Devil is making a concentrated attack upon the home. Nothing would please Him more than to destroy every Christian home.
