Summary: You could get hundreds of answers to this question. The true answer is found in God. God so loved the world.

The greatest love ever expressed was the love shown to a Christ denying world when Christ died upon the cross for the sins of all mankind. Love was manifest at Calvary. Many Christian people are not really sure God loves them, even after he has saved us. Sometimes because of the trying circumstances of this life. For some the Bible is not enough to assure them. That is true of many homes today. The wife is not sure if the husband loves her or not. The husband is not sure about his wife. The children do not know if their parents love them. The one thing the human heart craves is love.
