*WHAT ARE YOU OFFERING GOD?

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com

SHOW ME YOUR GIVING AND I WILL SHOW YOU YOUR PRIORITIES...

Hebrews 9:22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and

without shedding of blood is no remission.

Hebrews 13:11 For the bodies of those beasts, whose blood is brought into the

sanctuary by the high priest for sin, are burned without the camp.

12 Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood,

suffered without the gate.

GIVING?

THE BIBLE HAS GOOD RECORDS ON GIVING...

THERE ARE MANY TYPES OF OFFERINGS....

*1. BURNT OFFERINGS: TO MAKE ATONEMENT OF SIN...

A. The BURNT OFFERING:

Leviticus 7:8 And the priest that offereth any man's burnt offering, even the priest

shall have to himself the skin of the burnt offering which he hath offered.

B. AN AROMA PLEASING UNTO THE LORD...

Leviticus 2:2 And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take

thereout his handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense

thereof; and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering

made by fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:

G. Usually the person would also give a GRAIN and DRINK OFFERING with the

animal...

H. The BURNT OFFERING was an EXPRESSION OF WORSHIP, DEVOTION, AND

COMMITMENT...

I. THE BURNT OFFERING IS A TYPE OF:

1. Abraham and his son Issac --- then the ram

2. JESUS CHRIST SUBSTITUDE ONCE AND FOR ALL ON THE CROSS...

Ephesians 5:2 And walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself

for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.

A. Along with the BURNT OFFERING there was usually also offered a

GRAIN OFFERING...

be of fine flour; and he shall pour oil upon it, and put frankincense thereon:

2 And he shall bring it to Aaron's sons the priests: and he shall take thereout his

handful of the flour thereof, and of the oil thereof, with all the frankincense thereof;

and the priest shall burn the memorial of it upon the altar, to be an offering made by

fire, of a sweet savour unto the LORD:

B. THE GRAIN OFFERING WOULD CONSIST OF:

1. PURE VIRGIN OLIVE OIL

7 And if thy oblation be a meat offering baken in the fryingpan, it shall be made

of fine flour with oil.

C. The priest and Levites would bake this in an oven or cook it in a pan on a

gridle.

D. A MEMORIAL PORTION WAS PLACED ON THE ALTAR...

The Levites could eat the rest.

E. NEVER could they use honey or yeast...
