This sermon emphasizes living a Spirit-filled life, following Jesus' example of service, love, and sacrifice, and being agents of His justice and joy in the world.

Introduction

Good morning, beloved family of God! It's such a joy to be gathered together in the house of the Lord, united by His grace, and bound by His love. You know, life can sometimes feel like a puzzle, with pieces scattered in every direction. But isn't it wonderful to know that we have a God who not only holds all the pieces, but also perfectly fits them together? He has a plan, a purpose, and a promise for each one of us.

Today, we are going to look at the life of our Savior, Jesus Christ, who is not just our Redeemer, but also our Job Model. He came to this earth not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many. His life was a testimony of love, sacrifice, and service, and we are called to follow His example.

In the words of J.I. Packer, "The Christian's life in all its aspects - intellectual and ethical, devotional and relational, upsurging in worship and outgoing in witness - is supernatural; only the Spirit can initiate and sustain it. So apart from Him, not only will there be no lively believers and no lively congregations, there will be no believers and no congregations at all."

Isn't that just a profound truth? The Spirit-filled life is not an option or an add-on for the believer. It is the very essence of our Christian life. It is the Spirit who gives us the power to live like Christ, to love like Christ, and to serve like Christ.

And now, let's turn our hearts and minds to the Word of God. Luke 4:18-19 says, "The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor."

This is the mission statement of our Lord Jesus Christ. This is His job description. And as His followers, it is ours too. We are anointed and sent to proclaim the good news, to bring liberty to the captives, to give sight to the blind, and to set free the oppressed.

Now, let's bow our heads for a moment of prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your Word which is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. We thank You for the example of our Lord Jesus Christ, who came not to be served, but to serve. We pray that as we study Your Word today, You would fill us with Your Holy Spirit, that we may understand Your truths, and apply them to our lives. Help us to live like Christ, to love like Christ, and to serve like Christ. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Jesus, Our Job Model

When we think about the life of our Savior, we can't help but notice His selfless service. He was always ready to reach out to those in need, to heal the sick, to comfort the brokenhearted, to feed the hungry, and to teach the truth. His life was a living example of love in action. He didn't just talk about love; He showed it in the most practical and profound ways.

In the same way, we are called to live a life of service. We are called to follow the example of our Savior. We are not here to be served, but to serve. We are not here to take, but to give. We are not here to be loved, but to love. This is the essence of the Christian life. This is what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ.

Now, let's think about the way Jesus served. He didn't serve out of obligation or duty. He served out of love. He served because He cared. He served because He wanted to make a difference. He served because He wanted to show the world the heart of God.

And that's how we should serve too. We should serve out of love. We should serve because we care. We should serve because we want to make a difference. We should serve because we want to show the world the heart of God.

But how do we do that? How do we serve like Jesus? Well, first of all, we need to have the right attitude. Jesus had a servant's heart. He was humble. He was selfless. He was willing to put the needs of others before His own. And that's the kind of attitude we need to have too. We need to be humble. We need to be selfless. We need to be willing to put the needs of others before our own.

Secondly, we need to have the right motivation. Jesus served out of love. He served because He loved God and He loved people. And that's the kind of motivation we need to have too. We need to serve out of love. We need to serve because we love God and we love people.

Thirdly, we need to have the right focus. Jesus was focused on the kingdom of God. He was focused on doing the will of His Father. He was focused on bringing glory to God. And that's the kind of focus we need to have too. We need to be focused on the kingdom of God. We need to be focused on doing the will of our Father. We need to be focused on bringing glory to God.

Lastly, we need to have the right power. Jesus served in the power of the Holy Spirit. He was filled with the Spirit. He was led by the Spirit. He was empowered by the Spirit. And that's the kind of power we need to have too. We need to be filled with the Spirit. We need to be led by the Spirit. We need to be empowered by the Spirit.
