Summary: We were joyous on 1st October being our country's independence day even when circumstances have stolen the expressions of the way we ought to feel about memorable event.

I keep on reflecting every moment this period comes, about what it truly means. Is the nation better now than before independence? Are the promises of those entrusted in positions of responsibility fulfilled? As we approached 2023 a year of turnaround as predicted in our nation, some people are chanting that the messiah has come and will rescue us from the shackles of poverty. Then who is the messiah? Ignorantly, they make 'god' of their fellow man, forgeting that he cannot be trusted even for mere things (Jeremiah 17:5) because his heart is entrenched with issues of life (Proverbs 4:23) and he is not qualified to carry our burden (Matthew 11:28). The children of the Prophet were entrusted with positions yet they failed (1 Samuel 8:3). Sincerely, if we know the truth, we will be set free (John 8:32). The truth is that the nation is overwhelmed with sin (slave to sin). People do evil with impunity and expect His grace to bound (Romans 6:1). They lust after material things at the detriment of others. But there is a promise that will never fail (Matthew 6:33). Desirable living is among these things being assured if only we can seek first kingdom of God and his righteousness ( John 10:10). Jesus is the way and the truth ( John 14:6). Let us wholeheartedly accept He who laid down His life for remission of our sins so that we can truly be free.
