Summary: “Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God,” - Ephesians 2:19

Identity is ‘who a person is.’ It is your ‘distinguishing character.’

I know that the word identity is not strange to anyone of us, in that we all live in communities where we are required to go about with one form of identity card or the other. On each person’s ID card are our names, addresses, some other information and codes that distinguishes us from all other people on the face of the earth.

With the same token when it comes to spiritual matters, every one of us must know who we are in Christ Jesus. With the text – Ephesians 2:19, we see that our identity has changed from old to new.

Who were you?

1. Someone who was dead in sin and trespasses, walking in the dictates of the world (Ephesians 2:1).

2. Someone who was afar off (Ephesians 2:17).

3. Strangers and foreigners (Ephesians 2:19.

Hallelujah. Once upon a time, you were carrying the identity of the country from which you came, but now you carry the identity of a citizen or residence of a good country.

Who are you now? What identity are you carrying about?

1. Someone who has been made alive (Ephesians 2:1-3).

a. Pray that God will enable you to behave as someone who has been made alive from the deadness of trespasses.

2. Someone who has been saved (Ephesians 2:5).

a. Pray that live like a saved person.

3. Someone who has been raised to sit with Jesus in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6).

a. Pray that you will not lose your place in Christ.

4. You are God’s workmanship, created for good works (Ephesians 2:10).

a. Pray that you may delight in good works – the purpose for your life.

5. Citizens of heaven and members of the household of God (Ephesians 2:19).

a. Pray that you will not lose your citizenship.

How did you get your identity changed?

By the grace of God, through faith in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:4-5,8).

Hallelujah.
