  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Knowing God is paramount to everything else in life! Knowing God is not merely a matter of learning about Him? You can learn about God through a study of Bible history, facts, or doctrine. These all have their beneficial place, but that’s not knowing God! Knowing God involves having a vibrant relationship with Him. This should be ongoing, ever growing, and maturing. Let me share a personal testimony to help explain. One evening in 1970 as my wife Lue and I were reading John 14:26, I finally saw it! “But the Comforter, which is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” The Lord made me aware that my problem was I had been reading the Bible like a textbook. He showed me that the Bible is a spiritual Book, and only the Holy Spirit could make it real in my life. I had discovered my first spiritual secret about knowing God. Now you know the secret. Therefore, let me urge you to pause for prayer. Tell God that you really want to know Him, not just know about Him. Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal these truths to you and make them real in your life. He is your teacher and He will lead you into all truth. Make this your continual prayer and proceed expectantly with your study. Expectantly yours, Lewis
  • Family: Lewis and Lue have been married since 1969. They have three children—Amy Charis, Aaron, and Andrew—a son-in-law named Rich, and four grandchildren, Thomas & Taylor Grace Butler and Theo & Sophia Grace Gregory. The Gregory’s greatest desire is that Jesus Christ be exalted in their lives and ministry. They are personally committed to the ministry of life and the encouragement of others.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: No one lives the Christ-life more totally than Lewis. He has a true depth of understanding of God and His ways. He also has the most remarkable, complete, and total trust in the Lord. Lewis is steady, confident, and secure. He is loving, kind, compassionate and all those other great qualities of Father God. I often say he’s a treasure, and he is. The Treasure within is evident in his life. I am blessed to live with such a man of God—who not only talks about the Christian life but also lives it.
  • Hobbies: Ministry: Helping people! I also enjoy God's marvelous creation. Bass Fishing, River Fishing, Bird Watching, Walking for exercise (especially in the woods), Site Seeing, the Mountains, Snow Skiing.

Tradition has it that Valentine was a third century martyr who demonstrated his love through his life and sacrificial death. We all should aspire to this kind of love. When we love God with all our heart we can enjoy God's unconditional, sacrificial love.

We all need love; we all want love. We crave it; we work hard for it, yet all too often we come up short. There is only one kind of love that truly satisfies the deepest needs of the human heart. There is only one kind of love that actually makes a difference. There is only one kind of love that ...read more

To love the unlovely and the unloveable is inconceivable. But that is just exactly what God did for all of us. We, who were corrupt through sin became the beneficiaries of eternal life through the sacrificial death of Christ.

What motivated God the Father to send His one and only cherished Son to earth to die for us? Why would the holy Son of God want to come into a wicked world? Moreover, what would prompt Him to give His life as a human sacrifice for sinful, wicked humanity? It is inherent in God’s nature to make ...read more

Love, we all need it. We all want it, but we rarely get it. We long for others to love us. But most people don't have any love to give. Most humans only know selfish love.

    I. Love does not come naturally. That should be quite evident from the selfish attitude prevalent among us. All humans are born with an evil nature, which means it’s our nature to be selfish. Hence, we cater to our flesh. A. Selfishness - Such selfishness causes us to use and abuse others, and ...read more

It’s a new year. Now what? For some the possibilities seem to be endless, but for others the future appears uncertain with many challenges. Regardless of whether your future seems bright or bleak, here are some things to keep in mind.

    I. A Clear Admonition A. In Isaiah 43:18 God gives us a clear admonition; don’t dwell on the past! If you want to make progress in the future, you must leave the past behind.
