About John
  • Education: Masters in Pastoral Studies from International School of Theology in San Bernardino, CA. Bachelor of Science in Political Science from Califonria Baptist University in Riverside, CA.
  • Experience: 2002-Present- Lead Pastor at LifeQuest Church in Palm City, FL. 1998-2002- Minister to Students at First Baptist Church, Stuart, FL. 1989-1998- Pastor of Studetn Ministries at Redlands Bible Church, Redlands, CA.
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Read with grace. These are meant as resources and knowing anyone may use anything I say causes great angst!
  • Sermon or series that made a difference: Preaching through the Purpose Driven Life in 2003 made a tremendous impact on myself and our church body.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: My two year old daughter was having a pretend conversation one day. I asked who she was talking to and she said, "I’m talking to Jesus." I asked what she said and she replied, "I told Jesus I loved him." "What did he say," I asked? "He said he loves me too." With all our grown up theology we forget that the kingdom of Heaven is like a little child.
  • Family: I have been married for 13 years to Alana. We have three children, Emily, Zachary and Kimberly.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: They are completley biased. Whenever they hear a message it is the greatest one ever preached. Not a shred of honesty in their critiques.
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Completely honest. She is willing to tell me what worked and what didn’t, but always in love.
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: "God wants us to be rather than seem to be." Gary Stanley
  • Books that have had an impact: "Purpose Driven Life" By Rick Warren "Visioneering" by Andy Stanley "Unstoppable Force" by Erwin McManus "Magnificent Obsession" by Lloyd C. Douglas
  • Hobbies: Golf, sports, and movies. I love playing and interacting with sports with my children.
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Jesus came to forgive, not condemn. Receive His grace and let him heal your soul.
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: I once dropped all of my notes off the stand and was not able to get them back in the right order for several minutes. Seemed like an eternity!!!
  • What I want on my tombstone: Great Husband, Great Dad, Loved Jesus
