If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: The Church in America needs to ’wake up’ and quit ’playing church’ and start being the church.
Something funny that happened while preaching: During my first pastorate my oldest daughter had just started to talk. The church we were serving was small and there wasn’t a nursery. So my wife kept her in the worship serivce. She had learned that when ’church’ was over we would close in prayer. One Wednesday night, I had just started my ’Bible Study’ and she started saying, "Amen," and wouldn’t stop. I guess she was ready to go home. Needless to say, noone paid any attention to me or to what I was saying throughout the rest of the night.
