These verses describe us as “enemies”, “without strength”, “ungodly” and “sinners”! It was while we were like that Christ died for us. He fought a fight against the devil and won!

Well in our scripture text today there is both good news and bad news. The good news is that we have hope no matter what happens. The bad news is that we can expect tribulation. But again the good news is that even then, we can have hope.

God has always required those who want to be righteous to place their faith in Him. This has been always been true. As far back as Abraham in the Old Testament it has been true.

God's Word teaches that through what Jesus did for us on the cross, He will not give us what we deserve – that’s mercy. In addition, God is willing to give us exactly what we don’t deserve – that is called grace.

In fact, the family I was born into were all sinners. And when I went to school, I was surrounded by sinners. As life continued, I was not able to get away from sinners!
