About Roger
  • Education: Although as a child I was not academically minded, after I left school I realised the importance of education. I studied hard and achieved success working in both The London Ambulance Service and The Metropolitan Police. I also obtained The Christian Studies Certificate from St. John's Theological College, Nottingham.
  • Experience: I have spoken at approximately 750 differnt churches worldwide. I have been involved in Men's Ministry, Beach Missions, Church Planting and Healing Ministry. Having worked both as an Ambulanceman (paramedic) and Police Officer in London's notorious East End I think I also know a lot about the real world!
  • Comment to those looking at my sermons: Although I have studied theology, I try to explain things simplistically with some humour without watering down the Gospel message.
  • One of my favorite illustrations: Too many to mention!
  • Family: I have been married to my wife Maggie for 43 years. Sadly we were not blessed with any Children but we have some wonderful nephews & nieces as well as many God Children.
  • What my parents think of my sermons: Both died before my ministry took off
  • What my spouse (really) thinks of my sermons: Very honest but supportive
  • Best advice given to me about preaching: Make sure people at the back can hear! Start with some humour or an illustration to get people on you side.
  • Books that have had an impact: If you want to walk on water you've got to get out of the boat. John Ortberg. The Case For Christ. Lee Strobel
  • Hobbies: Golf, Badminton, Watching football (soccer)
  • If I could Preach one more time, I would say...: Take your step of faith now before it's too late!
  • Something funny that happened while preaching: After speaking in front of a large congregation, my wife congratulated me but mentioned my zip on my trousers (pants) was unzipped!
  • What I want on my tombstone: Gone to claim my inheritance

I ask the question, how well do we know our commander in chief, Jesus? Do we allow him to help in the many battles we face throughout our lives. How prepared are we to follow his example of servant-hood.

Servanthood: John 13 v1-16 At the American Revolution a man in civilian clothes rode past a group of soldiers repairing a small defensive barrier, their leader was shouting instructions, but making no attempt to help them. Asked why by the rider, he retorted with great dignity, "Sir, I am a more

How important are our dying words? A comparison between the last dying words when Christ was crucified with two criminals and what we might say or do in our last moments.

  • The Amour Of God

Introduction to Ephesians and Spiritual Warfare. Wear the armour of God at all times as satan will attack those in ministry and servants of God especially when they are being effective. We are in a spiritual battle.

EPHESIANS INTO & Ch.6 v10-18 The Amour of God I am thrilled at being the person to start this sermon series of Paul's letter to the Ephesians. Why thrilled? Because although written to the Ephesians it has such a relevance to us and our church today. I want you to be encouraged and also to be more

Doubters dare to believe! The SAS motto is?....Yes "He who dares wins. I dare you to stop doubting and become a winner. The prize? A peace that passes all understanding even when in crisis and for all who trust Christ, everlasting life.

(Illustrating joke) When Beethoven passed away, he was buried in a churchyard. A couple days later, the town drunk was walking through the cemetery and heard some strange noise coming from the area where Beethoven was buried. Terrified, the drunk ran and got the priest to come and listen to it. The more

  • Be Filled, Be Expectant

    Contributed on Feb 6, 2015

What is our expectancy of God blessing us through prayer and the power of His Holy Spirit. By His grace and mercy God uses imperfect people for his mission.

Ephesians 3 v1 -21 Be Filled, be expectant Reaching the end of a job interview, the Human Resources Person asked the newly qualified graduate what starting salary they were looking for. He replied “In the region of £80,000 a year, depending on the benefits package” The interviewer more

  • Who's Flying The Plane?

I guess many here including me have in the past and if honest still do sometimes ask this question “Why God?” or “How can there be a God with all this suffering” Sometimes life hands us some tricky situations. Former President Ronald Reagan likes to tell a story which he says is true about a more

  • Love Obedience And The Law

Anyone that has been zapped by a speed camera or pulled over by the Police and gets a fine and endorsement is likely to be a bit more careful in the future, especially if the loss of their driving licence is threatened. Our obedience to the law doesn’t come about by our love for the policeman who more

Love is one of the most powerful emotions we have. The actress Joan Crawford once said “Love is a fire but whether it warms your heart or burns your house down, you can never tell!” Love can motivate, give pleasure, hurt even destroy. It can make us do bold, even stupid things. During the 17th more

  • Trust God He Knows The Future!

    Contributed on Dec 29, 2014

Testimony: When I was in the Police one of my note books containing vital evidence went missing. I started to panic as in the UK any verbal evidence written down must be shown, if requested in it’s original form at court. The small voice of God prompted me to look in the confidential waste sack. more
