Several years ago, reported that members of the Music Department at Bloomsburg University in Pennsylvania were busy creating a disc of holiday music from various religions and cultures because the traditional carols with their Christian message offended some non-Christians in the area. The University’s programmed bell system requires a special disc and they couldn’t find one with holiday music that wasn’t Christian in nature.

The Arkansas Democrat-Gazette reports that there will be no Christmas parade in that city this year (2002). The Downtown Partnership and the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, which sponsors the parade, said such a moniker excludes a portion of the community. They have decided to rename the event as 'The Little Rock Holiday Parade. "I just wanted to make sure it was all-inclusive," said an employee of the organization.
