Since ‘80 U.S. mega-churches have grown from a few hundred to over 20,000. Peter Drucker calls this “the most important social phenomenon in American society in the last 30 years.” They have been successful because they asked, “What is value?” to nonchurch-goers and found answers older churches have been missing. They found that value to the consumer of church services is very different from what churches have traditionally delivered. Value appears to be delivering a “spiritual experience rather than a ritual.”(CMA Management Monthly 11/98)
