A BETTER LIFE
There was a time, and maybe still is, when you might hear a parent say something about wanting to provide a "better life" for their son or daughter. A better life than what they had growing up. And by better life, they mean - a bigger house, more and nicer cars, and more stuff.

A Better Life? In 1956 the typical American had to work 16 weeks for each 100 square feet of home purchased; now it takes 14 weeks, and the houses are much nicer. Most families of that period had 1 car and strived to own 2; today 1/3 of U.S. families own 3 or more cars. The workforce has never been

In the Ice Age movies a squirrel is on a never ending quest for the acorn. He tries and he tries to get that acorn, and meets with a variety of misadventures along the way. He never succeeds in getting the acorn.
In one of these movies, the squirrel has a "near death" experience, and finds himself

There are many people today who are in bondage to things they can no longer control. We hear about them every day. Keith Urban, the Country Music star who is married to Nicole Kidman, checked himself into a rehabilitation treatment center last week for alcohol abuse, and could not appear at the

HOPE IS A SOURCE OF LIFE
Hope prays for God’s "will to be done on earth as it is in heaven" (Matthew 6:10) and then seeks to be God’s agent of change!
One writer says: "Biblical and Christian hope does not mean living in the clouds, dreaming of a better life. It is not merely a projection of

I want you to see what I think is one of the greatest examples of what we’ve been talking about and surprisingly it’s in a Hollywood motion picture. In “The Family Man” Jack, the husband, has made a career decision without consulting Kate, his wife. Because the opportunity is so lucrative Jack is

BOOMERANGS AND GREED
The world we live in says, "Grab on, hold tightly, squeeze till get what you want." Jesus teaches a paradox: "You can never touch what you grab for, and you can’t keep what you think you’re holding. As soon as you think you have piled up the good life – made your mark – it

GRACE IS FOR EVERYONE: 3:10 TO YUMA
One of the main themes that we find in a lot (although not all) of Jesus’ parables is God’s grace. Specifically, they often point towards God’s limitless grace. That was a central part of last week’s parable: Grace demands our response.

Many of us live our lives like MONOPOLY. You know how the game works. Players accumulate property, build houses and hotels, and then wait for the other players to land on their property so they have to pay up. Eventually you hope to bankrupt everyone else and have all the money and property.
