    Prior to sending the disciples out in ministry, Jesus sought to prepare them for the task ahead. He did not promise it would be easy, but He did promise to provide for them. We share the same promises. Service isn't always easy, but the Lord is faithful to provide.

    Jesus had spent time with the disciples, preparing them for the work of ministry. He had instructed them on where to go, what to do, and how to conduct themselves among men. Then He shared the difficulty they would face as they served Him, being rejected by most.

    As Jesus continued to provide instructions regarding the ministry He had called the disciples to engage, again He emphasized the difficulty they would encounter. Although this was a worthy task, with eternal implications, their opposition would be evident and extensive.

    Knowing the disciples would face a difficult and discouraging task at times, Jesus sought to encourage them by reminding them of their standing with God. We too can draw strength from the Lord and need reminded of that which is available to the believer.
