Summary: A Fresh Start with God

A Fresh Start with God

John 3:16 “For God loved the world so much that He gave His one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life.

I. Before we can get a Fresh Start we must know we are broken

A. The world is broken from sin

1. We have turned our back on God

Isaiah 53:6 All of us, like sheep, have strayed away. We have left God’s paths to follow our own. Yet the LORD laid on Him the sins of us all.

2. We have followed our own desires

James 1:14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death.

B. The world is loved

1. We love the world more than we should.

1 John 2:15 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.

2. God loves the world more than we could

1 John 4:8 But anyone who does not love does not know God, for God is love 9 God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. 10 This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.

There is HUGE difference between our love for the world and God’s love for the world

o We look for things to complete us and give us satisfaction

o God is the only one that can complete & satisfy us

II. God initiates our Fresh Start

A. God demonstrated love

Rom. 5:8 But God showed His great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners.

1. Love is giving so much it;

o Hurts the one giving

o Fulfills the one receiving

2. God knew what He was getting into

B. God sacrificed

III. How we respond to the Fresh Start.

A. Belief is depending/turning towards God

1. We trust Him with our eternal life

-Eternal life begins when we come to Christ.

2. We trust Him with our present life

o Direction & power in our daily life

o Through pain and praise

o Homecoming to be with Him forever

B. Where does “faith” come from?

1. It comes from God

Eph. 2:8-9 For it’s by grace you have been saved, through faith & this not from yourselves, it’s the gift of God, not by works, so that no one can boast.

2. It comes from the Word

Rom. 10:17 Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.

IV. God’s Fresh Start removes punishment and gives Life.

A. Real life is a gift!

1. We cannot make it happen

2. We cannot buy it

B. Real life is not about our bodies but about our spirit

1. Real Life is not a religious experience

2. Real Life is an act of God followed by a response of man

Application:

1. Do you need a Fresh Start with God?

2. Have you repented of your sin?

3. Why not get a Fresh Start with God today?
