Summary: The devil knows that he can not hurt God, but he can trip us up to hurt God!!

Ephesians 4:27-nor give place to the devil

That is what we have been looking at, Paul has been explaining to us, some of the ways we can let the devil use things in our life to trip us up and become a stumbling block to others!!

When two guys are fighting in a ring and one hit the other in the side and his opponent begins to try to cover that side or protect that side because it is hurt, the one who throw the punch to hurt it, continues to try to do more damage, because now he knows it is a weak spot, it is the same way with the devil, he always goes for our weak spots!!

The devil knows that he can not hurt God, but he can trip us up to hurt God!!

That is what we are going to look at today!

Ephesians 4:30-And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

31-Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.

32-And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.

The Holy Spirit can be grieved-Ephesians 4:30-And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God

The Holy Spirit can be resisted-Acts 7:51-“You stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers did, so do you.

The Holy Spirit can be quenched-1 Thessalonians 5:19-Do not quench the Spirit.

The Holy Spirit can be insulted-Hebrews 10:29-Of how much worse punishment, do you suppose, will he be thought worthy who has trampled the Son of God underfoot, counted the blood of the covenant by which he was sanctified a common thing, and insulted the Spirit of grace?

The Holy Spirit can be blasphemed-Matthew 12:31-“Therefore I say to you, every sin and blasphemy will be forgiven men, but the blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven men.

How Can We Grieve The Holy Spirit?

Let all bitterness-(animosity, resentment) those are two other definitions of bitterness, this grieves the Holy Spirit because anger towards someone, turns into bitterness, and bitterness turns into wrath!!

Clamor-(to demand something noisily or desperately, to shout at the same time as other people, and make a lot of noise)

When you have hear a person that has to be loud or interrupt others when they are talking or has to be the center of attention, you can almost guarantee they have anger, resentment, and bitterness in their heart towards someone!!

Evil speaking -Slander-A false and spiteful statement that damages somebody's reputation.

Malice-The intention or desire to cause harm or pain to somebody

How Can We Not Grieve The Holy Spirit?

Be kind to one another-It sounds simple doesn’t it, but sometimes it’s hard, even in church, when you hear someone say something negative about your family or the way you dress, or the way you look or the way you do something at church (Perform a job or task)

It hard to be kind in this world we live in, but it is what the world needs more of…Kind people!!

Excuse me, but the world has it quota of jerks in this world!!! Lol

Forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you-The truth is when we don’t forgive others, the one we are hurting the most is God!!

When your kids fight with each other, doesn’t that hurt you as a parent?

I always tell my kids they need to along with one another because, we are not always going to be here and they are going to need each other!!

The one we are mean to, speak bad of, or not be kind to, or have not forgiven, may be the one God uses to help us in our time of need!!

In my past, it is not been my church or my friends that has reached out to me in my time need but God has used someone that I did not expect!!
