JESUS BREAKS EVERY FETTER

By Wade Martin Hughes, Sr. Kyfingers@aol.com (Two part lesson) Song: “JESUS BREAKS EVERY FETTER”

Text: Matthew 18:18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

1 Corinthians 14:8 For if the trumpet give an uncertain sound, who shall prepare himself to the battle?

What message are you sending to others? Does your mouth and actions come together in agreement? What messages do you send to your family and friends? If our message’s call can't be distinguished what will others think? Will they show up for the battle? Come with me let us understand the ROLE OF THE SHOFAR on the DAY OF ATONEMENT?

THE DAY OF ATONEMENT: YOM KIPPUR. Jewish holy day of fasting, praying and releasing…This is the holiest day of the Jewish year. On this day Jews seek God to forgive their sins. Jews take their MACHZOR, prayer book and blow the shofar (ram’s horn) then they feast. The Jewish tradition is MOSES came down the mountain to find the gold calf. Moses prayed and God atoned for their sin. God then forgave them. Moses returned to the mountain and God gave Moses a second set of stone tablets with the 10 commandments. SO THE DAY OF ATONEMENT, YOM KIPPUR celebrates being SET FREE FROM THEIR SINS. When the trumpet (SHOFAR) sounds THEY ARE FREE, FREE AT LAST.

*FETTER: (Fetters is often used as plural which were used in pairs.) Fetters were made of brass or iron, a chain or shackle for hands or feet, something that restrains, confine, something that hinders progress, handcuff, BONDS, CHAINS,

*BREAK: to interrupt plans or activities, to separate often suddenly, to open a wound, to render inoperable, to make ineffective,

Does your FETTERS prevent you from trying to find God’s plan? Does our fetters hold us back? Does your fetters keep you from achieving your goals?

Psalm 149:8 To bind their kings with chains, and their nobles with fetters of iron;

IMPRISONED BY METAL BARS? MENTAL BARS? IMPRISONED BY OUR MINDS.

The shofar blast was about many issues. We come to the day of ATONEMENT.

Leviticus 25:9 Then shalt thou cause the trumpet of the jubilee to sound on the tenth day of the seventh month, in the day of atonement shall ye make the trumpet sound throughout all your land.

Leviticus 25:9 (MSG) Then sound loud blasts on the ram's horn on the tenth day of the seventh month, the Day of Atonement. Sound the ram's horn all over the land.

On the Day of Atonement in the fiftieth year, they blew the ram’s horn loud and long throughout the land. When God’s people heard the SHOFAR BLAST there was a call for everyone. This was a serious obligation to understand THE DAY OF ATONEMENT. This sounding of the SHOFAR is more than a call to the ears… GOD DESIRES US TO HEAR FROM OUR HEARTS. Hear the call to peace, love, unity… THIS SOUNDING OF THE SHOFAR IS THE CALL TO BREAK EVERY FETTER and each person is set free. The call of the shofar will break all that binds, limits and hinders. The call of the shofar means all judgments are broken. We are not just physically free, it is GOD’S CALL to SPIRITUAL RELEASE and FREEDOM.

MISSED THE MARK ---QUIT BLAMING… THIS MAN COULD NOT BE BOUND, YET HE WAS BOUND, HE CAME RUNNING TOWARD JESUS… COME… COME BE SET FREE… WE MUST REFUSE TO FOCUS ON DEMONS, FOCUS ON JESUS!

The call of the shofar reminds us to COME CLOSER TO GOD. Jesus brings the DAY OF ATONEMENT to a HOPELESS PERSON.

Mark 5:4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. 5 And always, night and day, he was in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. 6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshipped him, 7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. 8 For he said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.

9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many.

WE HEAR SO MUCH ABOUT FREEDOM? JOB: WHAT I FEARED HAD JOB BOUND…

Job 3:24 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters. 25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.
